The Alberta government has signed a 20-year deal that will involve building three solar power facilities between Calgary & Medicine Hat, which will supply government properties with 55% of their power, saving an estimated $3.9 million per year of public dollars, on electricity costs.
‘’Alberta is one of the best places in the world to invest in renewable energy. I am so proud to take another huge step in advancing solar energy in Alberta while creating good local jobs and saving millions of public dollars," said Environment Minister Shannon Phillips in a news release.

The Irish start up was founded by three friends with a passion for watersports, Rash'R wanted to bring to market something for similar enthusiasts while contributing to a cleaner ocean.
Each of the rash guards are created with high performance, sustainable techno-fabric made of 100pc recycled polyester which comes from waste, including fishing nets, carpets and other waste collected from the sea.

If you care about the environment, try this great fundraising idea: Raise cash by participating in a community cleanup event. The idea is to get pledges from the community for a dime to a quarter per pound of the trash collected.

How do solar panels generate electricity for your home?
Thanks to solar panels, we have access to an inexhaustible source of power – the sun. Throughout the day, the cells on your solar panels absorb the energy from sunlight. Circuits within the cells collect that energy and turn it into direct current (DC) electricity. The DC electricity is passed through a device called an inverter to convert it to the alternating current (AC) electricity used by most homes and businesses. You can use that electricity in your home, store it with a solar battery, or send it back to the grid

To help conserve water, choose efficient fixtures. Aerating your faucets, investing in a low-flow toilet, choosing efficient shower heads, and opting for a Water Sense rated dishwasher and washing machine can add up to big water savings.
