Solid Base Acro - Acroyoga Fitness And Movement Description

AcroYoga is the yoga of trust and relationships. One practices with at least one other person or in a group with the intention of working together to support each other achieving what would not be possible by oneself. The spectrum of the physical practice ranges from gentle therapeutics and supportive movements to acrobatics.

Think of it as the extension of your yoga practice, it's how you work with and relate to others, and the realization of how your actions occur and affect them. The underlining current that runs through all of the lineages of the practice is one of joy, compassion and empowerment, where trust and building community are the true measures of success.

It's super fun and safe, an exciting way to build something more than muscles. . . it builds trust.

This is a prerequisite workshop for those brand new to acro who are wanting to drop in on Tuesday nights for the fundamentals class. We go over the basics, how to stay safe, basic terminology, universal principles of alignment, all while learning foundational poses and acro etiquette. This course prepares you to jump in on Tuesday nights without ...feeling completely lost and keeps everyone safer in general. Sundays intro workshop is $30 and if it's your first time at Full Force admission is free for a week. This is a prerequisite workshop for those wanting to join the Acroyoga classes at Full Force Fitness. We will cover the basics of acro and prepare you to have the most enjoyable and safest experience possible. You will learn basic entries, spotting, etiquette, how to fall safely and protect yourself. You don't need a partner but it's always more fun with friends.
5-7p Sunday the 26th. Bring $30 and your swim trunks for the hot tub. There is also a jam Sunday nights so you can meet the community and see what possible with a bit of practice.

Beginner Acroyoga at @full_force_fitness_club tonight 7-9p. $25 (plus admission) gets you 2hrs of hands on expert instruction and use of all the facilities before and after, including the hot tub and saunas. I was the most nervous. The most scared. In fact, I didn't even like the look of acroyoga. I had a deep aversion, gut reaction.

Well, I liked the look of acro, but I could never do it myself... I'm a full figured woman. I'm not petit. This looked like a sport for someone that weighed 50 lbs less than me. But they looked like they were having fun. And maybe I could be wrong...



Colin did a great job when he first based for me. At first he was patient. Then he was also very honest. He looked me square in the eye and said, "I know you have no reason to true me, but I'm going to ask you to trust me anyways"



He was also very good at explaining what he wanted to have happen. His confidence as a base was so reassuring, I couldn't help but trust him. And trusting him was key!



I later went to his workshops, and his teaching in a group was great. He wanted us to work same size, and he wanted us all to fly and base.



I've learned since starting acro, that it really is for all body types. It's about trust and letting go. It's about growing on the inside. To reach beyond yourself, to trust and fly and base is exhilerating. And its a wonderful and exciting world out there!
