We were the first school bus company in Canada to have our training program nationally recognized and certified by the Motor Carrier Passenger Council of Canada and we are a proud member of the Student Transportation Association of Saskatchewan, Alberta Student Transportation Advisory Council, Alberta School Bus Contractors Association, and Partners in Compliance.

SOUTHLAND drivers, Chris O’Brien and Nathaniel O’Coin, had a very successful weekend while representing SOUTHLAND at the 2018 School Bus Driver International Safety Competition in Philadelphia! Chris and Nathaniel's respective supervisors, Angela Durocher and Tabetha Turko, also travelled along with them to the event for moral support. They return from their travels this week and no doubt have made us all very proud.
Chris competed in the small bus category, finishing 5th ov...erall. Nathaniel competed in the large bus category, earning himself 16th place. Both contestants were awarded participation certificates for their outstanding efforts. While Nathaniel and Chris were hoping to walk away with the titles, the experience of being at the competition has inspired them to train even harder for next year, and we can't wait for their triumphant return.
We are thrilled to have had Nathaniel and Chris compete on behalf of SOUTHLAND and hope everyone had a wonderful time in Philidelphia taking in these festivities. Keep your eyes peeled for your opportunity to compete in the provincial roadeo next summer, which could lead to your chance at the national-level competition.

SOUTHLAND would like to wish good luck to Chris O’Brien and Nathaniel O’Coin who are travelling to compete this weekend at the 2018 School Bus Driver International Safety Competition in Philadelphia! Chris and Nathaniel both came in first at SOUTHLAND’s local Roadeo and the Provincial Roadeo. Both Chris and Nathaniel are fairly new to the world of school bus driving. Nathaniel has been driving a little less than two years and Chris is barely a year into the job, himself. The ...skill and dedication possessed by these individuals in order to win these challenging competitions ( –so soon in their career!) is an impressive feat.
On Saturday, July 21st, 2018 Chris, and Nathaniel will go through a vigorously written exam on safety practices and regulations. The following day, Sunday, July 22nd, 2018 is when the driving tests begin.
Good luck Chris and Nathaniel, everyone back home is cheering you on!
