Springbank Big Band

Springbank Big Band provides a supportive Calgary community forum in which participants learn, enjoy, and perform music from the big band, swing, and jazz.

SPRINGBANK BIG BAND was formed in 1998 with the goal of playing music from the magical era of big bands that peaked in the 1940's. Almost 20 years later, the band is stronger than ever, not in the least because of the fun the members have playing music together and performing for a variety of audiences. The band is comprised of about 20 members with very diverse musical backgrounds. The band's focus continues to be swing tunes from the big band era and blends classic jazz and dance hits from the 1960's and 1970's into its larger repertoire.
The band is constantly adding new music and we are especially proud of performing newer compositions of our band members and re-arranging older ones. In addition, in the past, we have also specialized in New Orleans style as well as bringing on good ol' Rock and Roll.
