Slave Lake Area Update Slave Lake Forest Area Wildfire Update August 5th Posted on Sun, Aug 05, 2018
gfx-hsb-wildfiredangerupdate-moderate.jpg
... NOTE: Due to a server issue, the status map on the Alberta Wildfire App is not updating. Please use the wildfire status map on the Alberta Wildfire webpage for current locations. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and are working to resolve the issue.
Warm weather has caused the wildfire danger to climb in the Slave Lake Forest Area. The wildfire danger for Monday will be MODERATE.
Strong and gusty winds are expected Monday. Fire permit holders must postpone burning as the winds will exceed the safe burning conditions on the fire permit.
A campfire for cooking or warming does not require a fire permit. Never leave a burning campfire unattended and when you leave make sure your campfire is out. Soak it with water, stir up the ashes and soak it again. A campfire is out when the ashes are cold to the touch.
For up to date information on the wildfire situation subscribe to the Slave Lake Forest Area Wildfire Update and download the free Alberta Wildfire App for Apple or Android devices.
Unless conditions change, you can expect your next wildfire update on August 7th, 2018. If you have any questions please call Wildfire Information Officer Leah Lovequist 780-849-0945.

Slave Lake Forest Area Wildfire Update June 20th Posted on Tue, Jun 19, 2018
gfx-hsb-wildfiredangerupdate-high.jpg
... Wildfire Danger
The wildfire danger remains to HIGH for the Slave Lake Forest Area.
Although we had a good amount rain across the province last week, it doesn’t take long for the fine fire fuels such as grass , twigs, leaves to dry up with the extremely warm weather we are seeing. At this time there is no rain expected in the very near future thus the wildfire danger will continue to climb.

Slave Lake Area Update Slave Lake Forest Area Wildfire Update June 10th Posted on Sun, Jun 10, 2018
GFX-HSB-WildfireDangerUpdate-Low.jpg
. .. Wildfire Danger June 10th
For today, the wildfire danger is LOW for the majority of the Slave Lake Forest Area. Some areas in the southwestern portion of the Slave Lake Forest Area are MODERATE to VERY HIGH.
Cooler and wet conditions are forecast for most of the week. While the wet temperatures make it harder for wildfires to start and spread, it is still important to use caution and report wildfires immediately by calling 310-FIRE(3473).
