Swing Music Jam night is back Friday December 7. All musicians are welcome to bring their instruments and jam. Led by Edmontons own Seven Deadly Syncopaters! The band will play some tunes, then invite any musicians interested in playing to join them. Dancers, this means lots of amazing live music to dance to! This event brings together all lovers of jazz. This event is beginner friendly with a beginner lesson starting at 8pm, with the band and dance starting at 9pm. This year we head down to the big easy for New Years in New Orleans! Step into a "Louisiana Fairy-tale" with us as we dance our way into the new year. This year's bayou bash is a nod to the birthplace of jazz. We're especially excited to welcome a live band, The Seven Deadly Syncopators, playing all your favourite swing dance tunes!
Don your most colourful outfits -- Purple, gold, green and blue -- or get inspired by the vivacity of mardi gras styles. A beginner dance lesson ...will get you on your feet and all set for an evening of party. Tickets start at just $40!

No big deal. We kick off the evening with a beginner dance lesson where you’ll learn enough to get up on the dance floor with everybody. You don’t even need to bring a partner!

Membership is NOT required! However, tickets must be purchased ahead of time. Make sure to get yours in the bag, because this event has SOLD OUT for the past five years!

YOU ARE INVITED! To witness Big Time Groove's internal Jazz Dance competition!
Every few months, Big Time Groove, Sugar Swing's Solo Jazz dance team holds an internal competition to see who will bring home the Washboard of Champions! Spectating this event is open to the public, so you are welcome to come and watch the battle take place! They are entertaining, they are inspiring, they are fierce and competition is tight! Cheering them on will only make it better!
... Contest prelims and quarter finals take place during the drop-in lesson of the Friday night dance, with semi-finals and finals being a feature in the dance. Entrance to the battle prelims is free, with admission to the dance being separate.

Join us for this monthly event uniting two dance styles—Bal-Swing and Blues—and two communities for one epic night of dancing! Featuring staff from Nova Blues and Sugar Swing, beginners will have the opportunity to take drop-in lessons in both Blues and Balboa. Both slow and fast music will be played throughout the night. Newcomers always encouraged to come!
