Sw Masjid/Mosque - Calgary Islamic Center

Located well into the heart of calgary close to downtown. Has well arranged prayer areas for men and women alike. But snow sometimes proves a hassle as the driveway is uphill and the massive parking alas gives in to the snow studded small driveway which sometimes leads to vehicle block issues.

They are offering excellent programs for kids and adults. It’s tajweed and Quran classes are amazing.

Beautiful facility. Lots of parking. Pleasing ambience. Clean. Well managed.

I lived in Calgary in late sixties and early
seventies and had discovered this location and had a significant hand in persuading our association in buying the 5 acre lot for $ 60,000.We had about half of the funds but a Lebanese
businessman lent the association the remaining on the condition that whenever its subdivision was allowed the lot will be split.An Afro - American
student who had embraced Islam (Brother Salaudin from California)
worked very hard to get approval from the Mayor for permission to build the mosque against strong opposition .This is a bit of history of this Islamic Center.
