Swanlund Graas Dentistry

I've been seeing Dr. Swandlund since 1980 and have been extremely satisfied with his service and his staff. Personable, good humoured, pleasant attitude, pleasant office environment, friendly staff, professional and high quality service. Highly recommended.

I have had Crohn's Disease since I was a child. I obtained a graduate level education and held professional jobs but due to being high risk I was unable to receive disability benefits from any employment packages. I became unable to work a few years ago, and was eligible to receive only government disability (AISH). Unfortunately, after many surgeries, powerful drug therapies and likely chronic malnourishment my teeth began to fall to bits. It took me a few years of trying to live with the unhappy experience of finding parts of my teeth in my food, even when it was just pudding (geez!!) to finally accept that I would have to get dentures. I tried calling a number of local dentists who,after finding out I am on AISH, would not even bother to respond to my messages. I finally talked to my family doctor and it was her receptionist who suggested Dr. Swanlund (she had a similar experience after a slew of health problems).I've known her for years and never at all suspected she HAD dentures! Dr. Swanlund saw me within a week, referred me to a wonderful oral surgeon who,because of the number of teeth being removed and my ongoing health issues,performed the extractions in hospital. Dr.Swanlund spent a lot of time with me to see how I smiled and spoke, and created a unique and wonderful set of teeth for me. I was able to keep my lower front bottom teeth for a partial denture which has metal clips that are barely noticeable. The entire staff of his office have been working for him for many years,and are a happy bunch of people,probably because Dr. Swanlund himself is so friendly and accommodating. I hadn't smiled in years as I was so conscious of the state of my teeth,and had become afraid of dentists as I had met some who didn't understand my history and were somewhat judgemental, but I was so put at ease that what I thought would be a traumatic experience was a life changer! I cannot recommend this doctor and his staff highly enough. I am getting the permanent dentures in a few weeks, though my temporary ones are as natural and comfortable as anything. I can chew almost everything (even steak!!!) and I now smile and laugh without even thinking about how my teeth appear because I know they look natural and beautiful. Such a kind and wonderful office,from the reception to the dental assistants,to the amazing Dr.Swanlund (sorry I know I'm gushing,but honestly,they are the cat's pyjamas). He is the rare person who is both highly skilled and extremely caring. In my case I'm sure the government didn't provide a windfall for my treatment.He seems to get a lot of reward by making a positive difference in a person's life (it's not common to find a happy dentist in general!). At any rate I can't thank them enough!
