We recently visited with a group of friends and our five year old son and our experience was an 11/10! Tony and Chris treated all of us like family, the food was INSANE, honestly THE best food in YYC. We enjoyed delicious cocktails and a wonderful family style meal. Tony even walked to a store to get our son an ice cream cone when he overheard our son mention he was excited to have ice cream for dessert! This restaurant should be on every Calgarian's list to visit and we cannot wait to come back again! Thank you Tony and Chris and all the staff at this incredible restaurant!

Tonight was our first experience here as we recently moved into the area and have been working our way around the restaurants. Honestly the calamari was hands down the best we have had in Calgary it was so so good! And the meat charcuterie was really good the wine was great too. The place is unpretentious and very laid back it was nice to just not feel rushed and to eat great food that comes out bit by bit leaving u wanting to try more. Even more surprising was the price which was very very fair for the quality of the place. I will be recommending this as a must try for all my friends and we look forward to coming back. Thank you

This was the first time we have gone here and it's now our new favorite restaurant in town. The food was amazing, the homemade bread was delicious. The service was welcoming and homey. The location is cool. Will defintely be back soon!

This is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the best contemporary Italian in town. The tavernetta's salient features are its great location, laid back atmosphere, cozy backyard patio, and expert staff with decades of experience in Calgary's top restaurants. If you love someone, bring them here for the bucatini.

The meatballs, calamari, duck wings were unreal good. I had to get the meatball sammich because the meatball starter was too damn good. I can never order calamari or meatballs from anywhere else again. My only complaint would be that the food was too good I didn't have time to take pictures because I had to shovel it into my mouth so fast so I could get ready for the next item of heaven in my mouth.

Meatballs, bread, pomodoro... all on point. Great backyard attitude, games on the side please! please support this place, it's worth it.

I was there on Saturday night for my birthday with my sister and niece. The food was excellent. Loved the pretty, little, house. I will be back!!!

I was really impressed with this place! It has a warm, inviting atmosphere and the staff make it feel like it is family run. I like the open kitchen concept so you can see the great chefs at work. The gnocchi was very tasty (I'll be coming back for that!) and the wine selection was great. Thanks for a wonderful evening.

I love this place! The Caesar salad is the BEST! The gnocchi was heavenly (please bring it back :) and so was the ravioli. The menu is inventive and changes from time to time. The best food I've had for a long time. And I can't wait to go back.

I had a chance to finally give these guys a go this past weekend with friends. I don't eat animals so they made me a custom dish that was fantastic! I also had the pear salad which was delicious. My meat eating friends raved about the meatballs and assorted skewers so if you're an animal eater then looks like you're in good shape with Tavernetta also.



The real kicker though is the staff. You're not gonna get a more welcoming atmosphere anywhere in the city (unless these guys open a second place I suppose). 5 stars all around. Great job guys!

Delicious food, relaxed vibe and very reasonable prices. I’m really lucky to have a gem like this restaurant in my backyard. Already have the next reservation booked!

Had an amazing meal with friends tonight! The patio was the perfect place to spend the evening and slowly eat our way through the menu sharing plates and tasting many wonderful flavours! The servers were excellent and every dish was unique and delicious. The calamari was one of my favourites, as was the lamb but really, so many tastes and a very enjoyable evening. Thank you!

The food is delicious and the ambiance is wonderful. There's snog enough for in your plate for the price you pay. I felt like I was eating a kid size portion. Very disappointed. The service was good. Having everything on one bill disappointing. I prefer a bill for each person. Having one bathroom for the entire place wasn't convenient.

The location is perfect and beautiful and I had extremely high hopes, but this place absolutely disappointed me:



Service: our waiter just did not care if we were there or not. I am definitely a low needs diner and his lack of attention even was too low for me. He was also devoid of any personality. The only redeeming server was this delightful lady who gave us our bill at the end and actually engaged with my table.



We had to ask for everything. Refills were not an option unless we flagged our waiter down by waving vigorously.. he never looked over at us.



Food: tastey but not special. I travel for work 1-2 weeks a month and eat out a lot. I have had better salads at diners. The Brutus (ceasar) salad was limp and heavily over dressed. My companion is a vegetarian and all dishes in the pasta area had to be modified to suit her. Kind of disappointing in this day and age. Even the James Joyce pub downtown has clearly identified vegetarian options available and actually indicated.



My plate came out first and after a few minutes, the waiter said "oh... it's family style.... only one dish comes out at a time." We then had to remind him that only one of us ate meat...



The follow on to that: if my plate was to feed a family, we would have had to stop a wendy's on the way home as we would have all still been hungry.



Our mains were presented "okay", but again, not special or memorable.



To be honest, my meal gave me indigestion and heartburn. Something was just not right....



We left and luckily we spotted a band playing nearby, which saved the evening.



Given all the 5 star reviews, we either had an anomaly or this restaurant has benefited from hipster groupthink.



My recommendation is to go in with modest hopes and with luck they will over deliver... but avoid the waiter with the man bun.

I was very eager to check this place out after a friend recommended it and was quite disappointed. Where to start? From the get go, the service was mediocre at best. I very rarely criticize service, but our waiter was far from engaging or helpful. I mentioned off the start that I was a vegetarian and asked which menu options could be vegetarianized. He abruptly asked ‘do you eat fish’? And suggested something with anchovies. Weird. So when I said no, I was the no meat or fish kind of vegetarian he offered only two choices that needed to be modified. Since when is it hard to find a decent veggie option in a pasta place? I see other reviewers raving about their homemade bread, but we weren’t offered any.

We shared a salad that was over-dressed and lacked seasoning. Could have used some cracked pepper at least but this was never offered. My partner and I each ordered a pasta main. His was a meat-filled ravioli and I ordered a tomato based pasta. His arrived to the table first. As my BF would never consider eating a bite without me he waited for mine to arrive. After a few minutes the server came and informed us the meal is served family-style. Also weird when only one of us eats meat. He still waited for mine to arrive so his got cold before mine came. Mine main was ok...pretty plain tomato sauce and pasta. Again, lacked seasoning. I love fresh pepper on pasta and this wasn’t offered. We weren’t asked how things were tasting or checked in on once after our mains arrived. All in all, the food was nothing memorable. The bill was presented by a different server, and she was the highlight of our experience. She had to inform us the debit machine was down and we had a good laugh asking if they accepted cash. I’m not sure if it was just an off-night for the team, but we both left feeling disappointed.

I am the least picky person in the world but this restaurant is very disappointing. We had been wanting to try the restaurant for sometime from driving by the outdoor patio. However, from the moment we walked in the disappointment started from what could be an amazing restaurant. The bar was littered with junk, an old cooler and some simple imagination could of made this a very romantic place.



Ok, let’s skip to outside... Very inviting patio. However, that’s where the inviting part stopped. The server was less than excited to be there, was picky about where we sat, and was not engaging.



The food... mediocre at best. The salad was ok, the duck wings were decent and the hour wait for a cold dripping wet chicken was the the defining moment that I will never come back. When we raised our concerns the server just walked away. Let’s hope someone takes over this restaurant and saves it from itself.



The owner didn’t even say goodbye or have a nice evening as we left the restaurant.



About 10 minutes later we drove through the Tim Horton’s drive through and the pleasant lady saved the evening. It left me thinking that this restaurant could learn a few things from this lady on the service side.
