Technical Search & Rescue is a group of unpaid professionals dedicated to the prevention, rescue and recovery of lost persons in Northern Alberta.

A huge thank you to NuVista Energy Ltd for choosing to donate their golf fundraiser proceeds to the Grande Prairie Technical Search and Rescue Association. Their corporate office also matched the amounts raised for a total of $16,500!!
These funds helped us purchase our jet boat to advance our Swift Water Rescue team for future call outs and training, as a majority of our calls are water related.
Our team consists of professional volunteers and is 100% donation funded.

A huge thank you to our hosts at Spruce Meadows who donated the golf course to our charitable organization for the day and as always BBQ’ing a spectacular dinner!
This fundraiser was extremely successful because of our sponsors and many donated items from businesses all around Grande Prairie & surrounding area!

GPTSR is a non profit, charitable organization filled with local volunteers professionally trained to assist the RCMP, EMS & Fire with Ground Search and Rescue, Swift Water, Ice, Rope and Heavy Animal Rescue. We work together, so others may live.

Swift Water Rescue Training - Aug 19, 2018
A great day out on the water today practicing throw bags, defensive swimming, tethered rescue & trained with our RDC (Rapid Deployment Craft). Swift water scenarios help our team prepare for water rescues in our vast river systems.
We were also joined by a county RCMP member who provided shore support, and practiced his throw bag skills.

Our team went down to help Grande Cache Search and Rescue volunteer for the marathon ensuring everyone’s safety, along with many other amazing volunteers!
The Canadian Death Race is a 125km race with 5 different legs. This marathon starting in the town of Grande Cache, through some tough terrain including Mt. Hamel, is an incredible accomplishment for many runners!

An extremely hot weekend is in the forecast ☀️🔥
Remember to wear sun protection such as a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, etc; keep hydrated & drink lots of water and avoid over exposure in the sun/heat.
Watch for signs and symptoms of:
... Heat exhaustion:
- Heavy sweating - Weakness - Cold, pale, clammy skin - Fast, weak pulse - Nausea or vomiting - Fainting
What to do:
- Move to a cooler location - Apply cool, wet cloths to as much of the body as possible - Sip water - If vomiting occurs and continues, seek medical attention immediately
Heat stroke:
- High body temperature (above 103°F) - Red, hot, dry, or moist skin - Rapid, strong pulse - losing consciousness/unconscious
What to do:
- Call 911 immediately - Move to a cooler environment - Reduce body temperature with cool cloths - Do NOT give fluids
