About The Barley Mill

The Barley Mill is known for great patios where one can enjoy a wide range of draught beers, premium scotches and outstanding food in the heart of downtown.

The Barley Mill Description

The Bow River Barley Mill was designed to bring the history of the Eau Claire area into the feel of the building. The area of Eau Claire became part of Calgary in 1886 when the Eau Claire and Bow River Lumber Co. was founded on its riverbanks. It was given its name by Isaac Kerr who brought with him memories of his hometown, Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

ITS FINALLY HERE!!!!! Calgarys Best St Patricks Day Destination See you down for a great weekend of Irish fun

User

Are you coming to our huge St Paddys Day Bash Did you Know? Our three pubs will be giving out great prizes all day long. The Guinness will be flowing, the Irish dancers dancing and the live music will be playing. Don't miss out on what's sure to be an epic St Patrick's Day. See you all down at the pub tomorrow and don't forget to dress loud and proud in the green!!!!

User

Tomorrow is our huge St Paddys Day Bash Did you Know? THE TRUE COLOR OF GUINNESS Itā€™s not black. Itā€™s not even brown. Hold your beer up to the light ā€“ or, hey, maybe try drinking someplace that isnā€™t so dimly lit. Youā€™ll see that Guinness is actually a deep, dark red, a color the company attributes in part to the roasting of malted barley during the beerā€™s preparation.

User

2 Days left to our huge St Paddys Day Bash Did you Know? THE LINGO MAKES SENSE You canā€™t attend a Saint Patrickā€™s Day event without hearing a cry of ā€œErin go Bragh.ā€ Whatā€™s the phrase mean? Itā€™s a corruption of the Irish Ɖirinn go BrĆ”ch, which means roughly ā€œIreland Forever.ā€

User

3 Days left to our huge St Paddys Day Bash Did you Know? BUT THE LEPRECHAUN ECONOMY IS THRIVING Another little-known fact from Irish lore: Leprechauns earned that gold theyā€™re guarding. According to legend, leprechauns spend their days making and mending shoes. Itā€™s hard work, so you canā€™t blame them for being territorial about their pots of gold.

User

4 Days left to our huge St Paddys Day Bash Did you Know? THERE ARE NO FEMALE LEPRECHAUNS Donā€™t be fooled by any holiday decorations showing lady leprechauns. In traditional Irish folk tales, there are no female leprechauns, only nattily attired little guys.

User

5 Days left to our huge St Paddys Day Bash Did you Know? IT COULD HAVE BEEN SAINT MAEWYNā€™S DAY According to Irish legend, Saint Patrick wasnā€™t originally called Patrick. His birth name was Maewyn Succat, but he changed his name to Patricius after becoming a priest.

User

6 Days left to our huge St Paddys Day Bash Did you Know? THE WORLD RUNS UP QUITE A BAR TAB All of the Saint Patrickā€™s Day revelry around the globe is great news for brewers. A 2012 estimate pegged the total amount spent on beer for Saint Patrickā€™s Day celebrations at $245 million. And thatā€™s before tips to pubsā€™ bartenders.

User

7 Days left to our huge St Paddys Day Bash Did you Know? THEREā€™S NO CORN IN THAT BEEF Corned beef and cabbage, a traditional Saint Patrickā€™s Day staple, doesnā€™t have anything to do with the grain corn. Instead, itā€™s a nod to the large grains of salt that were historically used to cure meats, which were also known as ā€œcorns.ā€

User

8 Days left to our huge St Paddys Day Bash Did you Know? COLD WEATHER HELPED SAINT PATRICKā€™S LEGEND In Irish lore, Saint Patrick gets credit for driving all the snakes out of Ireland. Modern scientists suggest that the job might not have been too hard ā€“ according to the fossil record, Ireland has never been home to any snakes. Through the Ice Age, Ireland was too cold to host any reptiles, and the surrounding seas have staved off serpentine invaders ever since. Modern scholars think the ā€œsnakesā€ Saint Patrick drove away were likely metaphorical

User

9 Days left to our huge St Paddys Day Bash Did you Know? THEREā€™S A REASON FOR THE SHAMROCKS How did the shamrock become associated with Saint Patrick? According to Irish legend, the saint used the three-leafed plant as a metaphor for the Holy Trinity when he was first introducing Christianity to Ireland.

User

10 Days left to our huge St Paddys Day Bash Did you Know? ITā€™S THE THOUGHT THAT COUNTS Not every city goes all-out in its celebratory efforts. From 1999 to 2007, the Irish village of Dripsey proudly touted that it hosted the Shortest Saint Patrickā€™s Day Parade in the World. The route ran for 26 yards between two pubs. Today, Hot Springs, Arkansas claims the title for brevity ā€“ its brief parade runs for 98 feet

User

12 Days left to our huge St Pattys Day Bash Did you Know? IT USED TO BE A DRY HOLIDAY For most of the 20th century, Saint Patrickā€™s Day was considered a strictly religious holiday in Ireland, which meant that the nationā€™s pubs were closed for business on March 17. (The one exception went to beer vendors at the big national dog show, which was always held on Saint Patrickā€™s Day.) In 1970, the day was converted to a national holiday, and the stout resumed flowing.

User

13 Days left to our huge St Pattys Day Bash Did you Know? CHICAGO FEELS LUCKY, TOO New York may have more manpower, but Chicago has a spectacle all its own. The city has been celebrating Saint Patrick by dumping green dye into the Chicago River since 1962. It takes 40 tons of dye to get the river to a suitably festive shade!

User

14 Days left to our huge St Paddys Day Bash Did you Know? SO DO NEW YORKERS New York Cityā€™s Saint Patrickā€™s Day Parade is one of the worldā€™s largest parades. Since 1762, 250,000 marchers have traipsed up Fifth Avenue on foot ā€“ the parade still doesnā€™t allow floats, cars, or other modern trappings

User

15 Days left to our huge St Paddys Day Bash Did you Know? THE IRISH TAKE SAINT PATRICKā€™S DAY SERIOUSLY As you might expect, Saint Patrickā€™s Day is a huge deal in his old stomping grounds. Itā€™s a national holiday in both Ireland and Northern Ireland.

We had a wonderful experience here! Food was good (could've used some more prawns in the Cuban prawn salad) and drinks were great. Service was excellent. Nicely tucked in the location so sun doesn't shine in your eyes.

User

Very nice pub with great ambience and attention. Good variety of dishes... good kitchen šŸ˜Ž

User

The service is great. Friendly staff. My local while I'm visiting from Sheffield UK. Here on my own. I've brought the kids over to see their Dad who lives here. Welcoming place.

User

Great service fast and happy waitress would highly recommend. Food was awesome

User

First time in here Saturday night, we liked it so much we went back in after the cinema. Service is great, atmosphere is great, good and beer is great. We'll definitely be back in!

User

Fab dinner, great beer and friendly staff. Well worth a visit.

User

Excellent patio! Our out of town friend truly enjoyed the tasty cider you have on tap

User

Absolutely beautiful evening to have dinner on the porch today. The food was tasty and fresh. Only negative thing was that we did not get our appies together. I had to wait an extra 5 minutes.

User

Very nice atmosphere. Great selection of beers. Unfortunately couldn't just have snacks i.e. A packet of chips/crisps or peanuts. But looked like nice food being served and the beer was nice.

User

They were very accommodating to our group of 20. Morgan was attentive and a great server. Food and drinks are excellent, would definitely go back and recommend.

User

The breakfast were great, my husband picked the breakfast with steak, it was so impressive that the steak was done as what he was asked. I think the only complaint was the coffee, it been made too long, tasted very old. If that will be improved, perfect. We will be back to try their dinner menu. Great job!

User

Great ambiance...best parmesan artichoke dip I've ever had...fabulous beer selection

User

Good food, pleasant staff, hostess escorted our child to the restroom, and then waited at the restroom for our child to finish, then escorted our child to our table. Very impressed.

User

Seated by myself waiting for a friend. Took my drink order brought it to me & then never came back until my frown arrived 40min later.

User

Why the music so loud outside and so late on a Tuesday night? Nobody is out, your place is empty and I have to work early. It's not even nice outside!

User

Went there on Saturday evening after debating on going here or Joeys Eau Clare. We picked Barley Mill as it was way less busy than Joeys (obviously reasons) I essentially served my own table this entire time. The waiter..did not even ask if we wanted food, at all or even introduce himself. The host (after waiting 10 minutes... I walked up to and ordered drinks) I had to go to the hostess table more than 3 different times for refills on our drinks (which were wine, not just pop or water). This was one of the worst experiences I have had in a restaurant. After still tipping the waiter 20%, he ripped the receipt and did not even say thank you and rushed away.

Will probably never return or recommend going there - which is very sad as this is a prime location within the Eau Clare area.

User

Went there a few weeks ago on a wednesday for half price bottle of wine day like advertised on the website then was told , all the on sale bottles are sold out ( bullshit ) , sounded more like they just didnt want to give the deal . I walked over to the garage were they actually gave you their advertised deal .
