On Saturday, February 23, the choir of the Cathedral Church of the Redeemer aims to sing 100 hymns in six hours! Will you support us?
Funds raised at this event will benefit the cathedral's choir tours and events with guest musicians—activities that go beyond our regular ministry of worship in the cathedral but that further the education of our choir members and enrich the experience of our congregation.
There are a number of ways to contribute to this fundraiser:... - Join us at the Hymnathon and sing with us—it's $10/person (cash only; valid for multiple entries throughout the day) - Bid on a request slot in the silent auction to ensure that we sing the hymn you most want to hear - Pledge a fixed amount - Pledge an amount per complete hymn sung, with a stated maximum amount, if you wish - Pledge an amount per verse sung, with a stated maximum amount, if you wish (hymns average 4 to 6 verses each)
- - - - - - - - - - Further Information
Hymn List: To find out which 100 hymns we intend to sing, please email us at neil.cockburn@anglicancathedralcalga ry.ca
Silent Auction: To find out how to participate in the silent auction, please email us at neil.cockburn@anglicancathedralcalga ry.ca
Pledge Forms: To make a pledge, use our online pledge form (https://goo.gl/forms/JUBHo0T2purg2AUw2) or talk to a choir member to fill out their pledge form.
Payment: *We are not set up for online credit card payments.* Payment will be possible by cash (in person to a choir member, or on the day of the event) or cheque (payable to "Cathedral Church of the Redeemer" with the memo "Choir Fund"). If you know an individual choir member, they may be willing to accept an e-transfer. Please ask them in advance. We will contact you with further details on payment if you cannot pay at the event.
Tax Receipts: Because individuals from our own group will benefit from these proceeds (either directly through scholarships and bursaries, or indirectly through group events), according to CRA regulations we *cannot* offer you a tax receipt for your contribution.
Privacy: The online pledge form collects your email address so that we can inform you about this event and contact you about your pledge. Your email address will not be retained by the Cathedral Church of the Redeemer after the fundraiser is complete. Google's own terms and conditions regarding privacy and use of data apply to all Google forms, including this one.

There is no better way to celebrate the season than at our annual Candlelight Carol Service, one of the most beloved and stirring services of the year.
Join us as we celebrate in word and music the Christmas story. The renowned Cathedral Choir will sing anthems by Benjamin Britten, Stephen Cleobury, Ola Gjeilo, Márton Jakobey, Orlando Gibbons, and John Rutter - under the direction of Dr. Neil Cockburn.
As well, there will be some of the great hymns of the season, the Dean’s Christmas Message, and a beautiful candlelit procession.

By now you've probably heard about our poppy project, or seen the results for yourself! We hope you'll join us this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. for our Remembrance Day service, during which the poppies will be dedicated.
More than 7,000 hand-knit and -crocheted poppies adorn the exterior and sanctuary of the cathedral to commemorate the hundredth anniversary of the armistice of the First World War. The project was initiated by our People's Warden, Pippa FitzGerald-Finch, and she was... joined by more than 80 contributors, including some from other provinces and even from outside Canada.
We're extremely proud of this cumulative effort by so many parishioners and friends of the cathedral. The response from the community has been both exciting and moving to witness. You can read more about the project in the news articles posted on our page, or, better yet, talk to the project's contributors at the service on Sunday!
Since Remembrance Day is a Sunday, and is also the One Hundredth Anniversary of the Armistice, the service of Choral Mattins will be particularly meaningful. Please make every effort to attend the service, which will include the blessing of the Poppy Project, which continues to generate a lot of interest, including media coverage and increased foot traffic. Music at the service will include Te Deum in C by John Rutter, as well as the anthems They Shall Grow Not Old by Douglas Guest and So They Gave Their Bodies to the Commonwealth by Peter Aston. The preacher will be the Dean.

Our redoubtable Cathedral sacrist, Richard Johnson, is retiring after more than fifty years of service. There will be an official recognition of his ministry at the 10:30 service which will be followed by a festive coffee hour after at which you can thank Richard for his years of dedicated service. The photo shows Richard and the intrepid Canon Challice on top of the Rood Screen positioning the black veil which used to cover the large cross on Good Friday. Please join us!
