The Chili Project Description
Our music is not easy to categorize. When asked what is our style of music, I tell people that it's a throwback mixture of the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s, mixed up with some of today's music. I write the music as a feeling, whatever feels good and sounds good to my ear. Some people say that we have Pink Floyd feel, other say we have a Eagles touch in our music. Many people feel that Lawrence has a Rod Stewart flavor to his voice. Since there is a fair amount of sax, the music leans towards a soulful jazzy feel. It seems that each person that hears our songs has their own take on our style of music - which is fine with us, as long as the person that listens to the songs has a good connection to it. Lawrence writes his lyrics from the heart and personal experiences in his life. He has a raspy growl to his voice which lends itself to a lot of heartfelt, soulful feeling in his singing. We try to write songs that will be able to encapsulate an idea or an emotion and make it so that when somebody listens to it, no matter what their age or what language they speak, they feel the music.
