We have been going to comedy shows at the Cave for about 20 years. It was a quirky place then. It is a quirky place today.

Some of management’s more unusual policies really piss people off. They used to piss me off too. Now they just make me chuckle. They are unique policies because the Cave is a unique comedy venue.

The Cave is not Calgary’s best comedy club but it’s not our worst club either. The prices are fair. The food is good. The staff work hard. The comedy is comensurate with the cover charge.

What makes the Cave special though is that they open their stage to rising comics and give them a place to hone their craft. So while the Cave may not be perfect, it is and always has been an important part of Calgary’s comedy scene.

Thanks to everyone who was a part of the Macleod Trail store and best of luck in your new store. We hope you will be part of Calgary’s comedy scene for many more years to come.

The comedians were funny as hell and that was the best bit by a mile. The waitresses worked hard and were very friendly, but understaffed and apologizing for slow service. The food was average. The burger was Ok but wife had nachos and they were like cardboard. The couple next to us complained about the food, and then waited 30 mins for the replacement and that wasn't any better. The venue needs some serious updating and money spent as it could be so much better.

Then at the end of the night, we spend 20 mins getting out as there is only 1 card machine at the bar!!. come on get with the times. Make people pay up front when they come in, get bills settled before the end.

I would and will go again as it was a real good laugh, but recommend eat before and bring cash to escape!!

HORRIBlLE. My husband and I were in the city on Saturday and thought it'd be great to see a show. We gave this place the benefit of the doubt...BAD MOVE.

So it started off that we came in early because we had made reservations and wanted to make sure we were there within the 45 minutes as printed on the tickets. The waitress they had that night was completely clueless, but we later found out she apparently just started. She went the bartender who reluctantly showed us our seats. I unfortunately had to use the bathroom, by the time I hit the top of the stairs all I could smell was urine. The bathroom dungeon consisted of one green light, one red one and while the toilets were somewhat clean, the mirrors and sinks were filthy.

As we were looking at the drink menu, the waitress and bartender were loudly telling stories about a night of drinking, the bartender swearing and carrying on very unprofessionally. It took them 15 minutes to get our drinks...please keep in mind we were the only ones there, literally the only TWO people who were 45 minutes early for the show. When we asked the waitress what she ate, she said she has no idea so just order some food. When we got our meals, the waitress brought the wrong meal to me (still the only 2 people in the venue) and upon taking it back we see the bartender roll his eyes when she said something to him.

5 minutes later she slams down my plate with what was supposed to be chicken with rice and veggies. My husband had ordered a burger with fries and gravy. I'm just going to shortlist everything wrong with the food. Burned burger, burned cheese on burger, rice was old, hard and also cold, chicken was dry, veggies tasted microwaved and my husband's fries were somewhat burnt. He choked down his burger because we had not eaten all day, I nibbled slightly on his fries. Surprisingly the gravy was decent.

When we moved my meal to the side and other people started to trickle in, the waitress grabbed my plate and threw it on the bar, and got drinks for the other customers. My husband asked for a 2nd beer that he never got. The bartender kept looking at the plate (my "food" the waitress dropped off on the bar) and he kept shaking his head and rolling his eyes at us. We finally had enough and decided to leave. I requested to the waitress a refund for our tickets and my meal, to which I was told I had to talk to the bartender. He then goes into the back and comes out with an even worse attitude saying he'll have to refund me ONLY the tickets and I'd have to wait minimum 4 days to get it online. Then he angrily typed into the computer and tried to charge me $15 for the two drinks and the one glass of WATER we had. I requested to speak to management and he continued to get ruder and say management doesn't have time to speak with us, so we left.

This was the first experience to have with The Comedy Cave. Very disappointed that would could have been a great night out turned into such a horrible experience. Unreal.

Not all types of humour suit everyone, I've been here quite a few times and have always enjoyed the show! Not to sure how great the food is, but if you're looking for something fun (low - key during the week) this is a great spot.

We were there on a hot day and there was absolutely no air conditioning, the food is also very low quality and expensive for what you get. I would not go back. I feel bad for the comedians because they were funny, but I just didn't want to be in there anymore.

The comedy quality is up in the air depending on who's booked but the emcee's warm up is pretty tired after 15 years at the CC, and it shows.
Cave is the right word. The place is dark, windowless and feels somewhat subterranean. The bartender couldn't find our reservation but said we didn't need one anyway, contrary to the Groupon gods. Those using a voucher should know that it means a starter salad and five entree options only, everything else is extra. Also, be prepared to pay $3.05 for pop...with no free refills... Really? You guys couldn't reinvest the savings of lighting a 6,000 sq.ft. room with 4 lightbulbs into some more coke syrup and soda water?
Coffee is 10 cents more and that's refilled for free for some reason. My burger tasted like it came from a No Name 80 piece bulk box. Not even close to being worth $16. When we tried to get a refill on the coffee the server told us they were out of beans... I assume each cup is lovingly stomped behind the bar for maximum freshness and demand was through the roof this night.
No amount of moist towelettes nicked from the table bucket will make this evening more enjoyable than a C-. Lower that bar and hope your comedian is amazing.

Great comedy! Service is alright, if you get a coupon for 4 admissions keep in mind there's a $7.50 minimum spending quota per person

We had a great time last night. (March 24) The MC was hilarious, very talented. The two local comedians were alright, just starting out I suppose, keep it up, guys. Then came the headline act. Steve Gillespie. He is a very talented, funny , witty comedian. Had the place rockin'
Good food, great wait staff, perfect surroundings for a comedy club. We will be back!!
