The Dressmaker Description
Welcome, I'm The Dressmaker!
After years of frustration with the fashion industry and it's ability to turn a simple piece of clothing into a judgemental dictator of self worth, I decided to have a go at making things better. I quit my day job and went head first into studying dressmaking and the art of making a comfortable, beautiful garment. I knew that I wanted to make a garment that was easy to wear and easy to look great in, so I decided on a silhouette that I thought to be nearly universally flattering and decided on a 'no zipper, no button' policy; all elastic waist and stretchy fabric, all the time! It took close to a year of studying and several hideous test garments made of old bed sheets, but the first Dressmaker collection was finally debuted in the winter of 2014.
I believe that clothing should be fun and flattering, not frustrating. We spend a lot of time worrying about whether we'll fit into something or not, when it's not us that needs to fit in.
All dresses are designed, cut and sewn by The Dressmaker in Edmonton, Alberta.
