My journey with Essential Oils began when I was given a sample to try for my 10 year old son. My son suffers from severe seasonal allergies and has a difficult time breathing from April to September each year. A few years ago he developed a neurological tick, a quick movement with his head. When I took him to see the Paediatrician, the doctor said that it could be from a multitude of things. We reviewed the medications he was taking for his allergies and she told me that two of them had this type of side effect. I asked her why it was only happening to him now and her response was that his body was changing for puberty and that we should just wait and see what happens, to come back in 6 weeks and we would reevaluate. I left the doctors feeling like I had failed as a mother. My poor son, we had been freely giving him these medications and here he was suffering because of it! When we arrived home, I made the only decision I knew I could, I threw out all of his medications! I decided we couldn't wait to see what would happen. Long term effects worried me and the health of my son was my priority. So we did everything we could at home, no open windows, limited out door play, air purifiers - you name it, we tried it! But it wasn't until we were introduced to this lovely family that our lives were forever changed. We were invited for dinner one night and my (now) beautiful friend asked me what was going on with Simon. I told her what had happened she asked me if I had ever tried Essential Oils. I said I hadn't! My friend gifted me a roller ball which she called the allergy bomb! She told my son to keep putting it on all over his body, feet temples, wrists and Simon did. Well my poor little boy, who by this time had been suffering for weeks, took that roller ball and used it the whole way home and all night long! He woke up the next morning and when I looked at him, tears came to my eyes. His physical appearance was different. His eyes, no longer swollen shut, his nose was not a blatant red irritation. I asked him how he was feeling, his response 'Mom, I never knew people could breathe this good! '. I stared in disbelief, a few short hours ago, I had no answers, no idea how to help my little man! Today I have the answers, I know how to help, today I am EMPOWERED! Our journey to essential oils did not stop there, our research has led us to be able to change our own health and wellness. Through the support of essential oils we have also become a toxin free home. Paying attention to what we buy and how it will effect us is so important to me and my family now. We are forever grateful we were introduced to those lovely people who have become such amazing friends!
