This store has great gear for kids. Unfortunately they do not stand behind all the products they sell. I bought my 8 year old son a pair of Vasque hiking boots there part way through last summer. They still fit fine this summer, but are falling apart. They have been moderately used. For the price I paid (over $100) I expected them to last at least as long as they fit. While pleasant, the owner insisted that the boots had merely been "well loved", and that had I brought them in as soon as I noticed the stitching coming apart, they might have been able to help me. They came apart over a camping trip in Banff and bringing them in immediately was not an option. The owner explained that she was a small local business and wouldn't be able to get her money back from Vasque (although recommended that I contact them myself). This was in the same conversation where she told me that strong customer service is one of the things her business offers. I felt good about supporting a small local business, but will not shop there again and will head to MEC with the assurance of their rocksolid guarantee.
