Is your child a busy athlete looking for flexible schooling? Do they need the time to compete in their sport but need to complete their education as well? The National Sport Academy and the STEM Learning Lab have partnered to offer the National Sport Academy Connected Campus, a web-based distance-education program for athletic students. Students access their school either 1 on 1, online, or through virtual reality to complete their middle and high school education while they excel in their sport. Find out more on our blog:

This week at CIES: Cool cultural festivals + online slang school -

Are you learning English but you don't sound like a local yet? Try using some slang in your speech! Slang refers to casual words or expressions that certain groups of people use.
In this video, Canadian actor Will Arnett teaches you how to pronounce and use Canadian slang words. Watch it, and soon we'll be saying "Way to be a keener, eh?"

CIES was pleased to host representatives from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada at our SE Forest Lawn school yesterday, where we discussed our FARM and GROW programs. The future is bright for newcomers in Canadian agriculture!

This week at CIES: We have a new school in Westwinds! + join our FREE employment fair -

To celebrate its 30 years of service for immigrants and low-income Calgarians, the Calgary Immigrant Educational Society will be hosting an anniversary gala on October 30th, 2018 entitled One World Many Stories.
This event will commemorate the Society’s three decades of history and growth from a consultation and translation service in Forest Lawn to one of the city’s prominent language, employment, and settlement service providers. With three facilities, the Calgary Immigrant... Educational Society has supported over 250,000 newcomers from 75 diverse backgrounds since its opened its doors in 1988.
Attendees of One World Many Stories can expect speeches from members of government, musical performances, stories of success, student awards, and a multicultural buffet filled with global flavours.
One World Many Stories will be held on Tuesday, October 30th, 2018 at the Coast Plaza Hotel, with networking at 5:00 PM and the program starting shortly after at 6:00 PM. Proceeds from this event, which is open to all members of the public, will be used to support much-needed language, career, and counselling programs.
