The Keg Steakhouse + Bar

We’re known for putting double the love (and the detail) into our Twice Baked Potatoes. We fill our already baked potatoes with a mixture of butter, sour cream, bacon bits, and chives, and bake them all over again for you to enjoy.

Introducing our January feature, the Braised Beef Short Rib. Served with a port mushroom sauce over garlic leek mashed potatoes, they’re just what you need for the first month of winter.

Named after a famous stagecoach robber, our Billy Miner Pie has been stealing hearts since the moment we started serving it. With layers of chocolate crust, mocha ice cream, chocolate + caramel drizzle and toasted almonds, it’s hard to pick what we love most about it. Tonight was the first time that my boyfriend and I have been to the Keg and it is hands down the best restaurant in Red Deer! We loved it and the complementary ice cream cake for our birthdays was amazing as well!!

The first time ever we got there at 5:00 PM on Sunday , got a comfortable table right away ( usually you have to wait) waiter was excellent - young Polish guy - Radek I think was his name. Very prompted, pleasant, food arrived quick without any issues wow! I was impressed . Thank you. I wish there was more waiters like this. KEG you are lucky to have him!

The KEG is a very nice place to eat. My husband passed away recently, my daughters and I went to the keg for supper on my 47th wedding anniversary the first without my husband. Our waitress was wonderful and the food was great. Our waitress surprised with a delicious desert to finish off a very enjoyable evening.

My favourite Canadian restaurant chain. I've eaten here many times, and never been less than totally satisfied with the quality of food and service. We had the steak and crab, and steak and lobster, so we could share the seafood. Steak was perfectly cooked as always. Absolutely love the garlic mash. I think our server was Naroong?? She was brilliant. Will definitely be back 😀

Awesome service and very good food at Red Deer keg! Our waitress offered an honest suggestion when we asked and was very nice! Only down side is we couldn't couldn't share our on the house dessert with our friends because it had peanuts on it, wish we would have been asked if there was any allergies before the fact.

The keg is always such a treat for me but unfortunately last night I had a pretty bad experience. It took the server about 10/15 minutes to even acknowledge us, we missed some drinks we had ordered, my steak was way too over done, we weren't quality checked and I left almost my entire steak on the plate, letting him clear it and he didn't say anything. He seemed really rushed, as we had to ask for utensils, steak knifes, side plates and water.

I love the keg, I really do but I'm just really upset about my experience and unsure if I'll be back to this one. The server was really nice, just a little care free about our table. �

Went to The Keg in Red Deer last night...very disappointed in the expensive food. The asiago rice was greasy and it doesnt mention in the menu it has mushrooms and onions in it or I wouldnt have ordered as I dislike both those things. The peppercorn whiskey sauce was disgusting! And normally I LOVE peppercorn sauce. I was super excited to try this one and instantly regretted putting it in my mouth. Im not sure if I got the bottom scoop and it was all whiskey but it tasted awful I cant even describe the flavour. My prime rib was cooked well however my piece was half fat...10oz cut I probably got 5oz of edible meat off of it. Also the rub or whatever they put on the outside of the meat when they cook it was flavourless and chewy. I ended up cutting all of that off of it too. The au jus was sub par...bland. My server Jenna was wonderful and shes the only reason I didn't complain further. The nasty peppercorn was switched out for the herb butter which was half frozen from the fridge...I would melt it for the customer as it would've been melted on top if id ordered it with a steak. Odd to bring it in a solid block on a plate. Also the onion garnish should be mentioned that its on top of the prime rib. Another thing I scraped off. Maybe I'm blind but I didnt see that in the menu or I wouldve said no thanks from the get go and opted for veggies instead. All in all I think The Keg quality of food is slipping drastically! I wont be back. If I'm going to spend $85 on dinner for one of fatty prime rib and a scoop of rice I'd expect it to at least be delicious. Save your money and your taste buds and go elsewhere!

We went for father's day yesterday and we ordered steak and appetizer but then we need to send my daughter's steak 2x because we wanted meduim well amd it came first runny bloody steak. I don't want to feed a bloody steak to my 2 year old girl. So we send it back and it came back steak bleeding so I cut it in half and the steak doesn't look like a steak anymore because I cut it many times and send it back again and it was well done very dry after that then.. Our appetizer came last when my husband is almost done his steak. Not so happy about it very poor service and they never apologize about it. Not a happy customer �

Last night was our 28th wedding anniversary. we decided to fly by the seat of our pants and not make reservations. getting there, we decided that the bar was our best option. Wow was it warm, The air just didn't move. we waited 20 minutes to get in the bar, and another 15 minutes for anyone to see us. hot and thirsty now. we ordered our drinks and decided to have our meal ready for when she gets back.blames the bartender for being new and slow. has every one else us serve us. she said she was there to take care of us. she most certainly did not. we felt like a bother. waiting to pay was even more painful. not something i am willing to try again. i will check out state and main next time, food was good, service left us cold

I’m stuck at what to honestly rate my experience as we normally LOVE The Keg, and the food and drinks were great BUT - July 7, 2018 my husband and friends planned a surprise party for my 30th birthday starting at The Keg for supper. When my husband booked the reservation he told them it was a surprise party for me. All our friends got there and had reminded the waitress it was a surprise party and also reminded the staff up front. When my husband and I arrived he said “I have a reservation for Colin”, they started walking us to the table when the waitress/hostess turns around and says “are you guys here for the surprise party”. Highly disappointing to have the restaurant ruin the surprise after it was made mention multiple times it was in fact a surprise :(

It was nice that they were taking drink orders and offered a snack while we waited for a table. The waitress was not friendly and seemed annoyed that we only wanted water to drink. I ordered my steak medium and my husband ordered medium rare and both steaks looked exactly the same. For the price, they could at least season or butter the vegetables--almost choked on them!

I had a baby a few days ago and when all was said and done I told my husband I wanted a steak from the Keg since my body deserved it. I really just wanted to order in and have hubby go pick it up, but he insisted we go eat there instead. He made a reservation, and had to spell out S M I T H three times. When we got there, there was no reservation, so we waited until they found one for PhilTec?? (My husbands name is Philip)

The restaurant was super hot, and they said the air con was busted. We waited 40 minutes and I was hoping they'd bring us our food, instead they brought us bread. I suggested we go as I was too hot and getting Hangry. My husband asked about how long our food would be and the waiter said he'd check. 20 mins later he tells us there been a rush of orders and ours will be 5-7mins. I ask if we can go and head out to the car. The manager did apologize and give us a discount, so I guess there's that. After another 20 mins our food finally came in the takeout containers and we left to go home.



I was so hot and hungry and looking forward to my well deserved steak, but when we got home and opened the container, I could have sworn it was the remains from someone else's plate. Had this come served to me at the restaurant I would have thought they gave me a half serving. I had ordered the 6oz steak salad with blue cheese dressing with mushrooms, tomatoes, and those crispy onion things. I received a chunk of iceberg lettuce, 6 small mushrooms, two cherry tomatoes, no onions and the steak. At least there was the steak. I have ordered this before and the portion size is pretty huge that I'm never able to finish it. Tonight it was a joke.

I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant than I was tonight.

Finally got a day to get out for the night, and decided to go with The Keg. Upon arriving, our waitress did come right away but we hadn't had time to decide on drinks or food yet. She said she would be come

Back. 20 minutes later she hadn't come back so I had to go up and order at the bar. The waitress was notified we had been waiting by bar staff (restaurant pretty much empty this whole time) she finally came back and took our food and drink order. Our drinks came and mine was extremely salty. The food came in a timely matter delivered by the cook which was great but the waitress wasn't seen again for another 20 minutes.(end of our meal) I was hoping to ask to get a drink replacement but I never did get the opportunity to ask for a replacement. Basically we seen our waitress 2 times in an hour and by the time she came back the second time my drink was melted. No point in carrying on in your establishment. I did let the waitress know that I was disappointed in the lack of service which she didn't really seem to care. Very disappointed as service is usually great.

This is the second time that we've ordered Baked Garlic Shrimp and they have brought it out for us to eat and it was so blatantly burnt and overcooked that it was (visibly!) inedible. We refused to eat it and we refused to re-order another one knowing our expensive meals would be showing up right away. Moments later we realized that we could see their employees working what appeared to be the salad bar or salad station chowing down on the food. We waved at them and they waved back, smiling, while stuffing their faces from unknowing customers plates or from the salad bar - didn't hesitate to consistently dip their veggies into the dip before stuffing them in their mouths either. We were so disgusted that we immediately cancelled our meals and left. They lost the revenue of 3 full very expensive meals with one appetizer last night because of their lack of professionalism, ethics and hygiene). This is not the first or second or third or fourth time that we've had awful experiences at the Red Deer Keg. Enough is enough. We are done! You cannot treat people like this for $50 a head!

Recently came here for my birthday, the steak was gristly, not just a little bit, but the worst I've ever seen. I could have gone elsewhere and spend $20 less per steak and it probably would not have been so gross.

I would rather not rate the Key at this time. I booked reservation with a private room. We get there and the room is given away. We were then placed by entrance of this busy restaurant, so all that walked by could watch as my daughter breast fed her twins (9 weeks old). (Private for a reason). Also since when is medium to medium well (charcoal black and dried out)? Server was nice but scarce to where we were.

No very pleased with my dining experience this time when my bill was $ 287.00 dollars with out the 20% tip of $ 57.00 dollars. You tell me, what would you rate it?

Wow was it warm, The air just didn't move. we waited 20 minutes to get in the bar, and another 15 minutes for anyone to see us. hot and thirsty now. we ordered our drinks and decided to have our meal ready for when she gets back.blames the bartender for being new and slow. has every one else us serve us. she said she was there to take care of us. she most certainly did not. we felt like a bother. waiting to pay was even more painful. not something i am willing to try again. i will check out state and main next time, food was good, service left us cold

I’m stuck at what to honestly rate my experience as we normally LOVE The Keg, and the food and drinks were great BUT - July 7, 2018 my husband and friends planned a surprise party for my 30th birthday starting at The Keg for supper. When my husband booked the reservation he told them it was a surprise party for me. All our friends got there and had reminded the waitress it was a surprise party and also reminded the staff up front. When my husband and I arrived he said “I have a reservation for Colin”, they started walking us to the table when the waitress/hostess turns around and says “are you guys here for the surprise party”. Highly disappointing to have the restaurant ruin the surprise after it was made mention multiple times it was in fact a surprise :(

It was nice that they were taking drink orders and offered a snack while we waited for a table. The waitress was not friendly and seemed annoyed that we only wanted water to drink. I ordered my steak medium and my husband ordered medium rare and both steaks looked exactly the same. For the price, they could at least season or butter the vegetables--almost choked on them!

I had a baby a few days ago and when all was said and done I told my husband I wanted a steak from the Keg since my body deserved it. I really just wanted to order in and have hubby go pick it up, but he insisted we go eat there instead. He made a reservation, and had to spell out S M I T H three times. When we got there, there was no reservation, so we waited until they found one for PhilTec?? (My husbands name is Philip)

The restaurant was super hot, and they said the air con was busted. We waited 40 minutes and I was hoping they'd bring us our food, instead they brought us bread. I suggested we go as I was too hot and getting Hangry. My husband asked about how long our food would be and the waiter said he'd check. 20 mins later he tells us there been a rush of orders and ours will be 5-7mins. I ask if we can go and head out to the car. The manager did apologize and give us a discount, so I guess there's that. After another 20 mins our food finally came in the takeout containers and we left to go home.



I was so hot and hungry and looking forward to my well deserved steak, but when we got home and opened the container, I could have sworn it was the remains from someone else's plate. Had this come served to me at the restaurant I would have thought they gave me a half serving. I had ordered the 6oz steak salad with blue cheese dressing with mushrooms, tomatoes, and those crispy onion things. I received a chunk of iceberg lettuce, 6 small mushrooms, two cherry tomatoes, no onions and the steak. At least there was the steak. I have ordered this before and the portion size is pretty huge that I'm never able to finish it. Tonight it was a joke.

I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant than I was tonight.

Finally got a day to get out for the night, and decided to go with The Keg. Upon arriving, our waitress did come right away but we hadn't had time to decide on drinks or food yet. She said she would be come

Back. 20 minutes later she hadn't come back so I had to go up and order at the bar. The waitress was notified we had been waiting by bar staff (restaurant pretty much empty this whole time) she finally came back and took our food and drink order. Our drinks came and mine was extremely salty. The food came in a timely matter delivered by the cook which was great but the waitress wasn't seen again for another 20 minutes.(end of our meal) I was hoping to ask to get a drink replacement but I never did get the opportunity to ask for a replacement. Basically we seen our waitress 2 times in an hour and by the time she came back the second time my drink was melted. No point in carrying on in your establishment. I did let the waitress know that I was disappointed in the lack of service which she didn't really seem to care. Very disappointed as service is usually great.

This is the second time that we've ordered Baked Garlic Shrimp and they have brought it out for us to eat and it was so blatantly burnt and overcooked that it was (visibly!) inedible. We refused to eat it and we refused to re-order another one knowing our expensive meals would be showing up right away. Moments later we realized that we could see their employees working what appeared to be the salad bar or salad station chowing down on the food. We waved at them and they waved back, smiling, while stuffing their faces from unknowing customers plates or from the salad bar - didn't hesitate to consistently dip their veggies into the dip before stuffing them in their mouths either. We were so disgusted that we immediately cancelled our meals and left. They lost the revenue of 3 full very expensive meals with one appetizer last night because of their lack of professionalism, ethics and hygiene). This is not the first or second or third or fourth time that we've had awful experiences at the Red Deer Keg. Enough is enough. We are done! You cannot treat people like this for $50 a head!

Recently came here for my birthday, the steak was gristly, not just a little bit, but the worst I've ever seen. I could have gone elsewhere and spend $20 less per steak and it probably would not have been so gross.

I would rather not rate the Key at this time. I booked reservation with a private room. We get there and the room is given away. We were then placed by entrance of this busy restaurant, so all that walked by could watch as my daughter breast fed her twins (9 weeks old). (Private for a reason). Also since when is medium to medium well (charcoal black and dried out)? Server was nice but scarce to where we were.

No very pleased with my dining experience this time when my bill was $ 287.00 dollars with out the 20% tip of $ 57.00 dollars. You tell me, what would you rate it?
