The Loyal Edmonton Regiment Band Description

The Loyal Edmonton Regiment Band is one of the two Army Primary Reserve bands in 41 Canadian Brigade Group.

History:

The Band went to France with the Regiment during the First World War; it is believed they were the first Allied Service Band to arrive in Europe, and is famed for leading the unit into battle at Sanctuary Hill. The Band remained active between the wars, playing for charity and entertaining and lifting spirits during the difficult Depression years.

During the Second World War, the Band performed at many concerts, public and private functions in the United Kingdom, promoting the good name of the Regiment overseas. The Loyal Edmonton Regiment fought in Sicily and in Northwestern Europe. The Regiment is particularly well-known for the Battle of Ortona fought at the end of December 1943 in Italy.
