EXACTLY what Waterton needs. I honestly cannot believe the amount of bad reviews on here. My family and I have travelled all over the world and we all agreed this was one of the best burgers we have ever had. Chef Shameer definately needs a raise. Food was exquisite. It's not very often that we all find a meal this memorable...but we were all extremely impressed. I think it's about time someone writes a review this place deserves. There are plenty of places in Waterton that cater to an older/ retired crowd. It was wonderful to find an upbeat and younger crowd. The deep fried pickles we exquisite. We were too full to order dessert but because everything was so good...we ordered and weren't disappointed. Our server Brooklyn was also very sweet. We will definately recommend this place and be back next season. I'd give a million stars if I could. Great music was just a bonus.

User

Beautiful reno! Fish Taco's were excellent - spicy kick for sure! Great environment, friendly staff, enjoyed the mid-week live music as well.

After driving around the park, me and my girlfriend were starving. This was the only place that was open late, and we were thrilled that it was! We ordered the chicken quesadilla and truffles fries. Both were wonderful. The staff was attentive and humorous, specifically Brooklyn who served us. She mentioned that the place hadn't been open for very long, but none of that was obvious to us. I would absolutely eat here again and recommend it to anyone :)

This was a great spot right in Waterton Lakes National Park. A superb local tap list, very tasty food and great service. If you get a chance, check it out. My only knock was the the lettuce and tomato on my burger could’ve been a little fresher, but I’m splitting hairs really.

Shout out to Gordon, the bartender with the huge smile who’s a great conversationalist. Make sure you go say hi if you’re there!

Great food great service and live music

User

The Place looks great ! I have eaten there a few times and the food is above average for Waterton, the selection of Beers is excellent ! But the service is not good. The staff seem like they are more concerned about talking to friends then serving the guests ..that was last year.I will be back this year and hope that I can change the review to a 5 star

User

Nice place, food was good but price was ridicules.

User

I hope that the t bear decides that it can be both a social house restaurant in the day and change it's vibe at night to fit the mood. Felt like the atmosphere didn't suit a late night bar scene at all. Very strange lighting decision - much too bright!

We visited this place on May Long Weekend 2017.

This was the second day being open after a big renovation. They changed their name from "saloon" to "social house" and it was glaringly evident that they were completely unprepared to service.

First off, I need to make two things clear.

ONE: the food menu is ASTRONOMICALLY over-priced.

- When chicken wings off of the starter menu cost more than the entrees/mains then automatically there is lack of trust and confidence in whoever has designed the menu...aka those who dictate how they want the establishment to be run ($18.00 for chicken wings but if you walk across the street to Zums eatery they are $11.99).

TWO: service staff was trying extremely hard. There was never a moment when the bar or kitchen staff did not appear busy or focused.

This leads me to believe that they were improperly prepared due to lack training and/or preparation.

Now....

When we came in, the establishment was an estimated 15% full and already the employees looked stressed and over-burdened. As more patrons came in, it went down-hill from there.

We ordered 2 starters and a main, and it took 33 minutes for the ordered items to make it to the server pick-up line, and then an additional 13 minutes for it to eventually make it to our table (so 46 minutes total).

Please note that during this wait, never once were we concerned about lazy staff as everyone in the establishment seemed to be busy, stressed and/or over-burdened with work, leading to some confused or uncertain answers to our service inquiry questions.

The food was decent tasting. Temperature however was unacceptable for the wings as they had waited a minimum of 13 minutes before arriving to us.

The main dish we had ordered stated in the menu that it was a "rice bowl" dish but it arrived in a clump on a rectangle plate. That same menu item offered itself at a price of $16.95 (i'll again remind you that the appetizer/starter chicken wings cost $18.00), and then if you wanted a meat protein added to the order it was an additional ludicrous minimum $8.00 for an estimated half portion addition.

We were never once greeted or addressed by unfriendly or unwilling service staff. The work ethic of these front line employees was commendable. It simply seemed that this establishment was being poorly and/or under prepared/managed, and that there was a grotesque lack of integrity in product pricing vs actual value to the customer.

With time, familiarity and chemistry, the staff should grow to work more efficiently, aka faster.

Regardless, we were paying customers that expected the minimum standards that aligned with a grossly over-priced food menu and it simply was not met.

User

The new thirsty bear.....so depressing. I can't wrap my head around $8.00 shots, or keeping the lights on ALL NIGHT, terrible services, inconsistent on drink orders ( sometimes the drinks would be full and your next one would be half full), completely outrages prices, and to say you have to make your cost back for the renovations in the next 4 months shouldn't have to come out of the customers pockets. I realize your in it to MAKE money but let's be realistic. It's a real shame but I have nothing good to say about the new thirsty bear!

User

The aesthetics of the Thirsty Bear were good, well presented and clean, however, serving staff were polite but seemed to lack basic traing and a massive lack of comunication between themselves, the menu is well presented but over priced and trying to recouperate money spent on the renovatins through this will only cost the business in the long run, anyway, when we arrived and were ready to order we ordered calamari as a starter only to have the waitress come over nearly 15 minutes later to tell us they didnt have any, surely staff should already have been made aware of this! But not the point, the waitress then recomended the spicy chicken wings to which we agreed, no sooner had she gone down to the kitchen and she appeared with the starter ( literally within a couple of minutes!!) but was cold?? This says to me that an order had been messed up and to save wasting food they were told to try and sell it. If you intend to try and poison people then carry on with this standard, the main course wasnt much better, the fries were over cooked and the burger wasnt nearly as hot as it should have been, seeing as i am visiting from the uk for the first time it was highly disappointing and having worked as a chef for the best part of 15 years the food was well below a food safety standard to avoid the chance of food poisoning and resulting legal action.

Having read other reviews over the standard of service ect since opening, it seems little has been done to improve on this and as such i will not be recommending the establishment to others

Stayed at Waterton park's campground. Came to the bar with mom and sister just to eat something, all over 25yo. Before we sat properly they asked my sis for ID, well she left it in the RV. So we had to leave as my sis couldn't stay in the bar. Even just drinking water. BS. Just went to Zums across the street- all good, girls had water and juices. I had a beer. Food was great.

User

Great way to waste your money on renovations, as a local this isn't how I knew Waterton... I liked coming here on weekends, instead it's the place I avoid and go to the city for. Why come to the Rocky Mountains and see a city bar, you should come here and see how locals socialized. The best review I could give with saying it's garbage
