Thorncliffe Greenview Community Association opened in 1956 and is home to more than 1100 members. T. G. encompasses 5, 500 + residential homes.

Thorncliffe Greenview Community Association Description

The pride and joy of the Association is no doubt our Community Centre. Located at 5600 Centre Street North, Calgary, the Community Centre is over 300, 000 square feet of extremely well utilized space.

The Centre houses one artificial-ice arena, four racquetball courts, four 5-pin bowling alleys, a seniors centre, a members & guests restaurant / lounge, two banquet halls and meeting rooms. The largest of these halls, the Main Hall, is multi use in nature as it serves as our bingo hall, gymnasium and banquet hall. The Main Hall is one of the largest halls of it's kind in Calgary.

The Centre is not exclusive to it's members. It is open to all who wish to enjoy it's many attributes.

Construction of the Centre commenced in 1956 and has been built to, built around and continues renovations as necessary.

We offer free Wi-Fi throughout the facility.

Puts the community in community centre. Great place/great price. Thank you.

My son grew up in Thorncliffe, played hockey in the community - it was an amazing experience for him, making lifelong friends. I have been a member of the community association for many years, ran a morning coffee league bowling group, hosted events in the lounge downstairs , joined yoga, and attended many events here. It is a fantastic community and community association, possibly the best in Calgary!

My children growing up around TGCA for the past 10 years. Gym night, stampede breakfast and parties, halloween, and Easter parties - always the highlights of the family events. It is a great place for family.

Absolutely love Thorncliffe community association. We truly appreciate how well they treat our McKnight hockey families. The community centre is the center for the community with bingo, bowling, gymnasium, etc and now a great home-style family restaurant. So thankful we moved into such a great neighborhood.

Bowling was great! Great place for a birthday or staff party! Beer/food is not top quality, but inexpensive. You get what you pay for.

I have never felt compelled to write a negative review online until now. I think that people need to hear about our experience and how it was handled before they make a choice to bring their business here. On January 3rd we booked my son’s birthday party for February 25 at the bowling lanes. We then called on February 9th to confirm the party and we were assured that everything was a go. We arrived on Sunday with all of our guests to be told that there was a computer crash and that they lost our reservation so they had booked other people into our time slot. We were completely flabbergasted. The woman who delivered this news seemed completely unapologetic and only finally apologized after I asked her if she was going to be the one to tell my 5 yr old that his birthday was ruined. Her immediate response to this was “No, but my general manager can”, she did apologize to my husband after I walked away because I was so angry at her response. The “solution” they offered us was to hold our son’s birthday party in the lounge full of people drinking, with dart boards and pool tables. A completely inappropriate venue for a party with 12 young children. We were left with a sobbing 5 year old and no choice but to leave and have people come to our house with zero planning.

If there was a computer crash and all reservations were lost, a responsible business would have STOPPED taking new reservations or at the very least had some sort of plan in place to offer to people if something like this happened. A plan, other than - have your party in our lounge with no access to bowling. The way this was handled before we even arrived is completely unacceptable.

I am still in disbelief about how we were treated that day. The staff that spoke with us showed absolutely zero compassion for the situation that they put us in. She kept saying that it wasn’t her fault. While I agree that it wasn’t personally her fault, it was the fault of the organization and there was ZERO responsibility taken that day or after. They may not have been able to prevent the computer crash but they sure could have managed the whole thing in many different ways afterwards. We were told that a general manager was going to call us to talk about the situation and here it is, Tuesday morning and we have yet to receive a call. At this point, I don’t even want to speak to the general manager because there is absolutely nothing they can say to improve this situation. Nothing. If this is the way they handle their business then it would be my recommendation that you put your family’s plans in the trust of another venue. I have never received such poor customer service in my entire life.
