THE CASE OF THE MISSING COMICS
Our new Comics scheduled to be released today, June 27, 2018, are missing!
We can’t pin this one on the Joker or any of the other usual suspects =(
... Looks like this was a shipping (or more precisely a labelling) error at the warehouse. Our precious comics were accidentally mixed in with an account adjacent to our own and then sent to Medicine Hat
We won’t have this week’s books until early next week and I am so very sorry for any inconvenience this delay has caused anyone- we’ve always done our best to get our subscribers ALL of the comics they preordered
Thanks for reading and sorry about the bad news

User

You'll never get the customer service that you get from Roy at Chapters or Amazon. Even after not being in the store for many years, Roy remembered me and made me feel as if I'd come home again.

User

Thunderground is a great store. There were gaps between my first three visits, at least a couple months between each visit. When I walked in on my third visit, Roy (the Owner) greeted me by name; that's the kind of welcoming person Roy is.

I haven't taken my kids there, but I've seen him interacting with other people's children. Very welcoming and affable.

Roy is always willing to help you find what you're looking for or ordering it if he does not have it.

My impression is that Roy is always trying to build gaming communities around the games people enjoy. That seems to be his biggest goal, to bring people together to have fun playing games. His tournaments are like that; new players play for free, he includes snacks, pizza, and beverages for everyone to enjoy. Top-notch gaming environment.

I have seen him donate decorations to a teacher for her classroom, give snacks to children in the store during tournaments, and support small, home-based businesses.

I couldn't imagine him going more than he already does for the gaming community.

User

Thunderground comics and collectables is a one stop shop were when you walk threw the door meet buy friendly and incomparable customer service. It's the first and only store comes to mind when anyone asks best place to get all our hobby cravings.

User

Roy is amazing! He can order anything you need basically! Friendly and genuine. Local shops are the way to go. Thanks for amazing service, for sure will be back and recommend to others!

User

Really fantastic shop. I've met many a good friend here playing one of the many Magic events that are hosted, and I've had nothing but good times doing so. Roy is always extremely helpful and hospitable, and I've never felt displaced or unwelcome, even from the first day I walked in.

User

My husband and I went in to get a new board game for our game evening. Roy was so warm and welcoming. He immediately helped us and gave us suggestions for some awesome games. We will definitely be returning.

User

Live in Edmonton all my life, but make the trek with my bike during my Star Wars Decipher days and seen the shop go through numerous design expansions.

Roy has always welcomed myself and my brother to his shop and will always have your games in-stock or orders are fast and ready for you to pick up.

I have been recommending friends and colleagues in the community to stop by Thunderground Comics and will continue for years to come.

User

If you want a place where the owner knows everyone's name and game then Thunderground Comics is the place to go. Roy Kim runs the most fantastic hobby store there is. He makes you feel at home and will go out of his way to get you whatever you need.

User

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Thunderground has an amazing selection of comics, games, miniatures, cards, etc. There are always great deals on and Roy is just an awesome guy. The store is located in St. Albert but it is 100% worth the drive, every time. I've never made a trip and left disappointed. Support your LGS and give him a try, you'll be glad you did!

User

I was introduced to thunderground comics around 15 plus years or so ago. The owner has always been good to me and have alway tried to provided the best and most fair gaming environment as possible for all players that come into the store. I just moved to BC and I still order my items from thundergrounds.

One thing I have to say is if you walk in and don't feel welcome or being pushed out as fast as possible is because the owner is the sole worker there and is very busy. Yes he can hire staff but that would increase his prices. He try's to keep a lot of produce of the popular games in his store and he keeps it behind the counter to help prevent theft to keep his prices down. It's very hard to compete with the online market but thundeground dose a very good job by doing what he has to. If people owned a store or managed a company it's a very hard to do and you have to work hard to make any money. Roy is probably one of the hardest working guys in the business to provide us with great prices and a good place to play

User

I haven’t shopped at Thunderground in a few years, but when I used to get comics, or play Magic The Gathering, Thunderground was the place to go. Roy is undoubtedly the best comic/hobby shop owner. He cares about his customers as if they are his family. If you need comics, or want to get into some cool games, or even just shop for table top games, Thunderground is the place to go.

User

I have been going to Thunderground for over 10 years and no matter how long it has been since I have gone Roy (the owner) always remembers me and treats me like I had never left. Some of the best customer service I have ever recieved. My girlfriend, who I got into magic, went there one time by herself to buy her first deck and was treated with nothing but respect by Roy. I recommend him to everyone I know.

User

I attended Friday Night Magic last night at Thunderground Comics and was overwhelmed by what I found there. The staff was friendly and welcoming, the storefront and interior were clean and organized, and the owner was clearly involved and interested in providing a positive experience for the players. We were offered free potato chips, had complementary pens and dice, and all the players were cordial and welcoming of me to the store. Modern AND standard events were run concurrently, for no charge! There was even a fun Magic trivia game before we started playing.

I have been to many Magic stores in my life, but I definitely want to come back to this one.

User

Great atmosphere. Very friendly clientele and the owner was extremely hospitable. Some of the lowest card prices in the city and some of the best customer service to match. Will be back

User

First time going there today and Roy was very approachable and friendly not only to me but to my 9 year old daughter.

Not into gaming but they have a very good selection for games. Roy and I had a great conversation about marvel movies and what comics we enjoy, highly recommended if your anywhere near the area it well worth the trip.

User

Can't remember the last time I was as impressed with a shop and how well it's events were ran. Roy does an incredible job. Can not recommend this place enough.

User

Came to Thunderground for the first time last week during FCBD! Brought the whole fam jam in and was pleasantly surprised! Roy, the owner, was super friendly and really great with our young children. Thanks for making the experience so much fun for the kiddos in picking out their very first comics - (Jem and a Super Hero pack). See you soon!

User

A great and memorable place where you can feel safe! The store has great customer service and Roy is an incredible guy that I have known since I was a child. Hosting here is a one of kind experience and all he asks for is respect. Would definitely recommend Thunderground Comics to anyone and everyone!

User

I had played MTG at this store for many months and learned to realize that the owner is easy to tick off. At one of his events a bunch of us were just saying how another store had opened a rare pack. The next week the owner had Banned me from his store because i was "Promoting" another store. I was not promoting and there were more people than just me talking about this other store.

I would have understood if he would have told me to not talk about them when at his store, but he just straight up tells me to not come back and play some where else. You either have to be on his good side or he will just ignore you and get frustrated.

I know that he can not cover up for this as weeks after i was banned he had another event going and had said he was glad he did not have to deal with me anymore. I know this because i had still talked to people who played there and they told me.

He only takes pleasing to who spend lots of money at his store or bring in people to spend money. Other than that he will try to find ways to make sure you do not come.

He has banned and/or freaked at previous people for the most little things. The one before me was he had gotten mad because another player was using a sheet of paper that had said the name of another store.

I would love to come back to his store but after two months of the last time i was there, he saw me walk in and told me that i was not supposed to here and should leave. Looks like he will be holding grudges as i will have to play at other stores since he will not let me back.
