My soap journey began several years ago and here is why. I have always purchased handmade soap, mostly because I don't like store bought. So although I was using handmade soap, I was finding my skin felt dry and itchy. I would need to buy bottles of lotion to go along with the soap I purchased. I started researching soap making and spent close to 1 ½ years making and testing small batches. I now have several recipes I use that leave my skin conditioned and moisturized. No more bottles of lotion!
I also questioned the easiest and most common process which handmade soap is made, the cold process method.

Liquid + fat /oils /butter + lye = soap (which is a salt) + glycerin

This process is called saponification. You can “super fat” add more oils than are required but Unfortunately the lye isn't selective with which oil /fat /butter it saponifies with. So even if I was using butters with specific properties I couldn't be sure the goodness of them would be in the final result or if any survived the caustic lye process.
In my method I use external heat to help the saponification process. I add those skin loving butters after the soap has “cooked” and there is no active lye present therefore I can ensure the scent and specific properties are in the final product. This method is more difficult and has many different stages and is called Hot Process soap making.

My soaps are made with the benefit of goats milk or coconut milk and are enriched with soothing butters and herbal infusions.
All my products are Health Canada compliant meaning I have a cosmetic # for each and have registered my ingredients and recipes with Health Canada. These regulations are mandatory and are for consumer product safety
