About Tiny Blossoms Day Home

Welcome to Tiny Blossoms Day Home! My name is Kalina and I am the Owner and Provider at Tiny Blossoms. Tiny Blossoms is a private day home that provides high quality child care in an environment that enhances learning, social and developmental skills. I believe that children learn best through play, which is strongly encouraged at Tiny Blossoms. Children will be provided with rich, warm, and welcoming opportunities to play in order for them to learn at their full potential. I also believe that children thrive in an environment with guidance and creativity, not one that is strictly full of rules; and that instruction through fun and creative methods that are developmentally appropriate are more beneficial in the process of learning and understanding.
My passion for helping children grow and develop stemmed at a young age; however, it really blossomed once I graduated from high school and had the amazing opportunity to work as an assistant preschool teacher at A Child’s Garden Preschool with the three year old program. For the next two years, I was able to learn more how children grow and develop in certain areas. From here, I wanted to further my knowledge and gain more experience when working with young children. This led me to the Early Learning and Child Care program at Mount Royal University. I was very eager and excited to complete the program and graduate into the wonderful world of teaching children and helping them grow into amazing people.
Upon completion of the program in 2009, I obtained my level 3 (now known as Child Development Supervisor), and was hired by the Children’s Cottage as a Child Support Worker. I was employed there full time for 3 wonderful years until I had my son. From this position, I gained a great deal of knowledge and experience in working with vulnerable children and their families and the challenges diverse circumstances can present. From here, I worked for the next 2 years at my dear friends private day home in which I was able to bring my son to work with me.
Through my education and work experience, I have helped children develop and enhance social skills, as well as worked on daily tasks and scheduling. My position within the day home allowed me to assist in preparing healthy nutritious snacks /meals, spending time with children both in a group and individually, and help in facilitating with crafts and implementing age appropriate activities /play experiences. I have knowledge and understanding of early development and I strongly believe that amazing things happen between the ages of 1-3. What happens in this age group influences learning, social and developmental skills throughout life.
Following the birth of my daughter this past summer, I decided that opening my own day home will give me the best of both worlds in which I am able to stay home with my own children as well as continue my passion for working with children in helping them grow and develop into amazing little people.
