My Name is Angie La Brie (nee Peters) and this is my page. Born and raised in Europe, Germany to be exact, grew up and lived in the Black Forest in southern Germany for 16 1 /2 years before my family immigrated to Canada in 1979. Grew up with a German mother and an English father and raised bilingual. Three generations lived in our house, my wonderful grandparents who were a major influence in my early years, my parents and my brother and I. My grandmother (Oma) was a homemaker and my grandfather (Opa) was a talented engineer. Saw both of them on a daily basis and spent quality time with them and they were such a huge part of my young life. They are and always will be my wonderful heroes that I adore. As I was growing up I used to go with my Opa to building sites from sun up to sun down equipped with hard hat and rubber boots. Most days he had to carry me into the house because I was passed out in the back seat of his old red VW car when we returned home. When it came time to start Kindergarten I was not impressed simply because my freedom of roaming became restricted and very limited. Made a bolt for it on several occasions and walked home only to be brought back. From then on my Oma changed things for the better by teaching me to crochet and knit on a daily basis. We sat together for many, many hours in our living room where she would so patiently teach me the basics and we'd do simple little projects together. To this day I still have the original crochet hook and knitting needles that she gave to me. The memories that I have of both my Oma and Opa are very special and always treasured and sadly I lost both of them too soon. But every time I take up a crochet hook or knitting needles my Oma is always with me and the freedom that my Opa gave me is reflected in the many coloured blankets that I make.
Many years later I am married to a wonderful husband and we have three adult children, a grandson and a rescued dog who thinks that I am the center of her universe.
Even though this is my craft page and crochet and knitting is one of my biggest passions but in the end it is not about me.
It really goes back several decades to when all of this started.
I would really like to dedicate this page to my wonderful, loving and special grandparents who are still a huge influence in my crochet and knitting universe. Will always miss and love you forever!
