LOVE OLDS! Coming from the big city and moving to a small town is everything I could have hoped it to be. And everything I need is within 2 minutes of me.

User

I moved here a year ago from a smaller community in northern Alberta. Very little happened or was available there. Olds, however, seems to offer a lot to do and events happening on a regular basis. The people I've met since arriving here have been wonderful. I have no doubt that I made the right decision in relocating to Olds.

I am new to the Town of Olds, and regardless of all the curmudgeonly complainers below, Olds is doing very well. People are friendly, the Town administration is effective, and I'm super impressed that it not only has recycling pick-up but compost as well. This is progressive, intelligent, and the way that most communities with half a brain are going. Olds has all the amenities of a city, is centrally located, nice restaurants and pubs. Honestly, I invested in Olds for a reason. Intelligent people know that Olds is a nice town. Small minded conservative people with nothing better to do will complain about it, but let them.

I like the Town of Olds and couldn't be happier with my decision to move here.

User

it's grown considerably since we drove through last

User

We moved here in 1998. After living in a big city all my life I was a little worried I had moved to a "hick town" (they have a palace for cows?!😂😉). It took us only a few weeks to fall in love with Olds! It was slow-paced and quiet, we felt safe and it had super friendly people. Just 30 minutes to Red Deer and a little less than an hour to Calgary, it's a quick trip to the city when you need to. Olds has grown and changed a lot since we moved here, and is not perfect, but overall we really like living here and are thankful every day for the 'little' town we live in!

User

If I could change anything....it would be garbage (black bin) pickup! I feel every 3 weeks is not enough! Should be more like every 2nd week! Otherwise it's a great place to work, live & shop!

User

Town of olds city workers we're awesome cleaning out storm drain in my back alley thanks guys but I don't appreciate you're undercover bylaw agent stopping by my house in plain clothes in his personal pickup shouting orders thanks it almost cost my job

User

People need to shovel there sidewalks and driveways for people in wheelchairs and people with baby's pushing strollers and the town by law officers need to make sure there doing there job and enforcing this people that don't shovel should get a ticket

User

The garbage needs to be picked up every two weeks not every 3 weeks. Now your guys by law states we can't have any over flowing garbage . We recycle everything the way it's supposed to be done and we still get over flowing garbage with diapers, card board and grass. And MAGGOTS. .. IT'S HORRIBLE THIS NEEDS TO FIXED.

User

Snow removal is a joke, one week into January and our street hasn't been plowed once since snowfall. Had a completely cleared road of vehicles for the entire day according to posted signs and were told by the town that there were too many vehicles on the street.

User

Maybe it would be considerate to warn people when there is water work being done???? I just had to run to both bathrooms and watch as water came shooting up from our toilets. My guess is nobody is going to come clean that mess up for me??? Disgusting and inconsiderate.

User

It's a nice little town however the town has its issues with Garbage and water issues things need to change but the changes needed are brushed aside. Maybe the town should look after current issues and listen to the town folk rather implementing new things before the others are addressed.

User

I think the garbage pick up schedule needs to be reassessed! The town is crazy nasty in the summer, swimming in flies and nasty rotten garbage. I am almost to the point that ill refuse to pay that portion of the bill and ill take my own garbage in...

User

I recently purchased my first home in olds this winter, the property didn't have the green bin for whatever reason and now the town won't replace it. Told me to walk up and down the Alley looking for it and that it's my problem. Unless I pay them $70 for a new bin I won't be seeing one. I'm very disappointed in the way the town has handled this situation.

User

Garbage needs to be done every two weeks not three. Just like every other city or town! It's a joke. And what's with the bums at the east end of town stealing out of the back of people's houses. Caught the same old couple 3 times now. They were from tent city (red deer) now they come here to steal shit. But yet every night I see the police at Timmy's. Especially weekend nights. All 6 cop cars. And they hang out while drunk idiots drive around speeding downtown and yet they are at Timmy's drinking coffee what a joke. That's also facts. Cause u see them every time.
