I just made the drive from Saskatoon to Calgary today (May 19) to take a look at a Blue 2003 Ford Lightning which Scott has for sale.
Well lets just say I was excited to see the potential truck I was wanting to buy and could hardly wait. I figured I would be dealing with a high quality vehicle, well kept. Especially when it only has 70,000km. Rare truck.
Then the suprise came. Show up at the showroom where the truck is displayed, walk in the door and my jaw dropped, Not from being amazed by the high quality of the vehicle...... like I was hoping.

Lets start with what they said on the Kijiji add:

"We only sell the best the market has to offer"

"Our pre owned inventory is handpicked for its exceptional quality, top notch condition, clean history and value for money"

So back to the truck. As soon as I walk in the door I see a huge scuff across the passenger side of the front bumper and other damage that would need to be repaired on bumper. As any one would know with these trucks the Front bumper is unique to that truck and when it has a big ugly scuff (that is not just a "buff job" to remove) it does look awful. Then there is the passenger door, big 4"×4" white scuff in the middle of the door, pillar to roof behind passenger door has a paint chip so deep its to the metal and filled in with touch up paint. Tonneau cover is scratched horribly, I guess its meant to match the hood of the truck which also looks like someone tried a homemade remedy for polishing with sand paper on it. Tail gate also has ugly paint blemishes, very top of drivers door the paint is missing ????? Pretty much every panel is in need of desperate major attention. This truck needs more than a "polish" to look nice, the way a Rare truck should.
After spotting all of the disgusting flaws on the outside of the truck within minutes I didnt even want to drive it unless a price drop was negotiated. I asked to negotiate price to get nothing but "no" and a bunch of other pretty far fetched facts and numbers about other Ford Lightnings and Values. Then also was told that Scott himself had told me about the scuffs. Funny Scott, we never ever had a phone conversation the 2 weeks leading up to my visit. I also still have the texts with all info shared about said truck and never once was mentioned about how rough the body is.
I wasted a whole day and days prior to come down and look at this "HIGH END, BEST ON THE MARKET, HAND PICKED FOR EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY" Truck that looks like its spent its life next to the shoppping cart stalls at Wal Mart.

Thanks for wasting my time!

Well I now see he has responded to my review and even texted me at 3am the night I had left to apologize for wasting my time.
Obviously he doesn't know these trucks very well claiming they are worth $30g for a "perfect specimen".
If you have a problem with me asking for a price drop due to all the paint and body work needed on this truck then maybe you shouldnt be selling cars. I didnt "low ball" offer you I found numerous paint scuffs, blemishes, and scratches all over in a matter of minutes. So naturally I would ask if there could be a price drop, I had the money to buy what I thought by our text messages and your amazing photography skills was a great looking truck not a scuffed up "specimen".
If I was wrong about what I found on the truck why have you changed the Kijiji ad 3 times since then??
You could repaint the bumper and it would look great but the new paint sure won't match the swirly scratched hood. You can polish all you want but when it needs body work you can't just buff it out. The front bumper scuff actually moved the paint so it literally needs to be sanded and painted and cleared..... you could eat up your $1500 pretty quickly and thats just the start. Your claiming to me that all those scratches, knicks, and scuffs when we were texting you just forgot to mention that I guess, or how did it good. "Good, average for that year and km"

Dont get pissed at me because you tried to sell me a truck that I am smart enough to know needs alot more than "$1500" to touch up.

Scott Is a straight up guy. He really know his products and he stands behind his brand. I had been to many dealerships where there own agenda was to sell me the cars they wanted to get rid of. Not with Scott he really took his time to explain and I had never felt rushed or pushed into any sale. I felt I got 5 start service and I love my new car and thanks to him I know he will be the place I continue to go for my vehicles. I highly recommend him and Tristarcars.

I'm new to this area and I needed a new car and I am really pleased that I found such a good dealer. They really went out of their way to find exactly what I needed and I couldn't be more happier with the car I got. Overall, a great used car experience and I would recommend them to everyone.
