HAPPY 13TH BIRTHDAY 🎂🐶. Sweet Jazzie shared her celebrations 🎉 with the clinic today! Wishing you the best day and many happy birthdays to come! 🐾

Hey everyone, We had a kind woman bring in this kitty. He has a microchip but, again, we don’t have up to date information 😥 He is super friendly and well kept, so he does have a family. Let’s get this handsome man home! 😀🏠

We had a few of our puppies graduate from our puppy class this week - what do you think of their graduation photos?! As a reminder, puppy class runs every Wednesday nights from 6:30-7:30pm at the clinic - we are looking for puppies to register in this upcoming week's class! http://puppyclass.tudorglenvet.com/

We have some very sad news for you today - our most recent edition, Dr. Terra MacDonald, is leaving us to pursue her dreams as a fish veterinarian. No, we aren't joking - she will be providing veterinary care to our scaly friends (primarily salmon) on beautiful northern Vancouver Island. This has been Terra's life-long dream, but as you can imagine, the availability of such a specialized job is limited, and she just couldn't pass up this opportunity. Terra had worked with ...fish prior to graduating from veterinary school and British Columbia has been a very close place to her heart as she has always lived by the ocean - Alberta has been the farthest she has ever been from salt water! It wasn't an easy decision to leave however, and she wants her Tudor Glen family to know that she has made such great connections and memories, and will miss you dearly! We wish her the best of luck in her fishy endeavours.

OWNERS FOUND! THANK YOU FOR SHARING!
Hey everyone, does this pup look familiar?😥 She was brought in by some lovely people. She was found in the Mission area of St. Albert. She is microchipped but unfortunately the information is not up to date. She is safe and sound with us but we are sure she's very missed. ... We are open until 9 pm tonight! Let's get this little girl home. ❤️

We may have talked to you previously about using scents from home, Lavender, Chamomile, or pheromones to decrease stress on your pet in the veterinary environment - these new scents have been seen to decrease anxiety in dogs also. What are your thoughts - would you try this bandanna trick with your pet?

2 things about today; 1. It is soo very hot out ☀️🔥2. It is miracle treat day at DQ🍦 On days like these ice cream is just what everybody needed!! 😁 Everyone here at Tudor Glen was very thankful for the sweet treat today! Keep your pets nice and cool on days like these, they will also be very thankful for that! 🐶💦

Activity is very important in the physical and behavioural health of our pets. Here is a resource giving you some activities to consider, but a warning - avoid the "weekend warrior" routine, where pets engage in more strenuous activity on the weekend and live a couch potato's life during the week, as this may increase chances of injury. Daily activity is as beneficial for them as it is for us!

There are some exceptions (for example, our feline friends with diabetes mellitus), but straying from the conventional bowl feedings can provide your cat with a more enriching feeding experience. This is just one of many slow-release, interactive feeding tools for cats. We dare you to try it out!

The mirror test, or an animal's ability to recognize its reflection as "self", has been used since the 1970s as a means of telling whether an animal (or human) has self-awareness. Human babies are not born with this ability, and take time to figure out that that copy-cat is them. We have seen some animals in the past pass this test - I'd say this particular dog has failed! Have you seen some entertaining behaviour in your pets when they encounter their reflection?

This article speaks to us as veterinarians. We believe we do stay on time most of the time, as we put special effort into scheduling more major appointments with more time, but sometimes in an effort to provide the best possible medicine to our patients, this may mean wait times for you our dearest clients. We hope you forgive us when we're behind, and we hope you feel like we give you all the time you and your pet needs with each appointment - because we do really love pets! https://www.drandyroark.com/the-real-reas on-your-wait-at-t…/

This is an EXCELLENT article describing DS/CC, something that is near and dear to my heart. -Dr. Kayla
"Desensitization and counter-conditioning are powerful techniques that we can use to help dogs learn to like something they are afraid of. They can be used in many dog training situations, from fear of loud noises to fear of being left alone, fear of implements like nail clippers and stethoscopes, and fear of strangers."

Hello Tudor Glen family - we have received some technological bad luck and our phone and internet are down. Please be patient as we address this issue as soon as possible - our calls are being directed to a cellular phone but we can only take a single call at a time.

Did you see this story come out earlier this week? Rabies is VERY uncommonly diagnosed in our parts, but there are a few Rabies positive animals, primarily wildlife, reported in our province each year. Rabies is a zoonotic disease, meaning it can be transmitted from animals to humans (as well as between animals), and is 100% fatal once clinical signs are seen. Signs can include aggression, as is typically thought od when Rabies is discussed, but it can also present in "DUM...B" form, meaning the behaviour is abnormal (depressed, lethargic, uncoordinated). This disease is RARE and the likelihood of your pet or you being exposed is low, but the implications to animal and human health is significant, and the disease is easily and predictably prevented with vaccination. Is your pet up to date on their Rabies vaccination? https://edmonton.ctvnews.ca/ahs-reports-b at-captured-in-jas…

Wonderful and Caring Staff - Great Help to my sister when her dog had

some problems

User

We recently adopted a 3 year old yellow lab. Upon receiving her, we had no idea of her medical history, so were reliant on the staff at Tudor Glen Vet to help us out. They were able to track down Bailey's records from another vet clinic. In doing so, we found out that she was allergic to chicken, which is why she was all itchy (The food we bought had chicken in it). With the help from the staff at Tudor Glen, we have a happy healthy dog, and now know much more about her.

User

We loved going here with our fur babies when we lived in St. Albert. (We moved to Fort McMurray.) Their service was always wonderful. During the evacuation from Fort McMurray, we stayed in St. Albert. We needed to take our fur babies back as they became sick. Tudor Glen treated us like royalty and hardly charged us for their services, given our evacuation circumstances. We have returned a couple of times, for Vet Services, when visiting Edmonton, and have always received the very best service.

Thanks to you all and I'm happy to see the addition of your Services.

User

Tudor Glen is a great, friendly fur baby vet. They are great with your pets and family. They went above and beyond last night as my family and myself had to put our dog down 😔💔😭 I've been with them for 8 years. Thank you very much for your ongoing friendly compassionate support!!!!

User

These ladies are amazing. I know Kalum's diagnosis is difficult but we are working on what's going on. He is starting to eat again with the medication he was given so I already feel less stress. Thank you for everything. Have a sick furbaby is hard for me to handle.

User

The staff have been amazing and supportive and have gone above and beyond in taking care of my dogs. There's always a follow up after our initial visits, and clear communication from each of the vets I've seen. Dr. McCarty and Dr. Bussimen (sp?) in particular have been great in helping me with my boxer's chronic, somewhat mysterious issues. Thanks to everyone who has interacted with my dogs!

User

Tammy has been our vet for almost 12 years for Hunter. The care we receive from her is phemomenal.

Our Molly was taking to tutor Glen on Tuesday evening at 7:30 she was very ill her took her immediately to car for her I was very upset as she has never been ill a day in her 11 years the care she got was fast and efficient the doctors and the staff were amazing I have been going there for a while with our other dog so I knew that their care was compassionate and kind would recommend them to anybody thank you tutor glen for taking such good care of my baby girl she is now home with us and resting comfortably

User

I would like to thank Dr. Shanti's and his assistant (I apologize I don't remember her name) for coming into our home today to help put our two beautiful baby's at peace today. I have always received such amazing service, professionalism and personal touch. Thank you so so much for being so kind letting us take our time and being so understanding of how painful this day was for me and my family.

User

I highly recommend this clinic to every pet owner I know! Always the best service, staff is super polite from the time you call to make your appointment to the time you pick up your pet. We had our pom spayed a few weeks ago and when they brought her out after surgery, the tech gave her a little hug good bye before we left. They really do love pets! Earlier this week we had an emergency with our other dog and Tudor Glen was able to get him in right away. I also feel that their prices are fair, I never feel gouged when I pay my bill. I know my pets are well taken care of with Tudor Glen!

User

I feel very grateful and blessed that the Dr Megan McCarty and her staff Tudor Glen Veterinary Hospital sent Duwayne Walsh and I this condolences card with Mika's paw print and this Rainbow Bridge poem.

Dr. Meghan McCarty explained the health concerns of my cat with patience and love. I'm happy that you were there. Thank you!

I'm sooo very grateful and the thought of giving us a paw print is going above and beyond.

I highly recommend to all friends go see Dr. Meghan McCarty and staff at at Tudor Glen Veterinary hospital in St Albert.

I'm speechless and forever grateful!

We are a life time client for all our future pets!!

Sincerely,

Mrs Carla Walsh

Have been coming here for over a decade & every veterinarian we have seen with our animal kids has been a treat. Vets really do love pets ♡ Emergency visit tonight they stayed true and stayed late for/with us, with our old pup, getting lab results. Big hearts live here, thank you all so very much!

User

Every experience my family has had with Tudor Glen Veterinary Hospital has been absolutely amazing. Our most recent emergency visit had a few hiccups with cost, aftercare directions, and a concerning comment made by one of the staff. The manager, and Dr. Kayla resolved all of our concerns very quickly allowing us to focus on the healing of our dog. My family dogs surgery went fantastic even with the surprise of how bad it really was, and the extra length in time of surgery hours. I cannot thank the veterinary and the staff at Tudor Glen enough for the care they gave my dog.

User

Dr. Tyler Hughs and Dr. Tammy Wilde have been life savers. Tyler has treated my girls on numerous occasions and is so careful to make sure I understand everything that's happening. Tammy has filled in for Tyler as our vet when he's unavailable and does the same. Both are extremely caring and their passion for their jobs shines bright. Thank you both from the bottom of my here for all you've done for my for family and I.

my dog injures his tail wagging it over and over again and it bleeds and wont heal. His bone is coming out at the tip and the tissue is starting to die! the vet offered no remedy except for pain meds when i suggested surgery she said she would get back to me if a surgeon was willing to see him its been a week and my dog is in pain and i still haven't been contacted.

I took my husky to Tudor Glen with what appeared to be a UTI several weeks ago. After giving her the medication prescribed, she lost her appetite and became lethargic. It was as if my dog had gone from 9 to 15 years old in a few hours. I took her back to the clinic but the vet staff refused to listen to me that she was having an adverse reaction to the medication and insisted I continue with it. After a few days of these same symptoms, they advised to take her off of it. Meanwhile, a series of expensive tests were run. Over the next week and a half, my dog steadily declined in health and almost two thousand dollars in bills were accumulated running test after test with no answers as to what was causing her symptoms. Upon hearing the plan was to continue running tests, my dog's breeder insisted I take her out of Tudor Glen and directly to her original vet in Whitecourt, who had made time to see her the following day. Within 15 minutes of him seeing her, he had a diagnosis and treatment plan. His observation was that Tudor Glen vet staff "Ran a lot of unnecessary tests and overlooked the basics." Sadly, it was too late and Nitra passed away three days later. While timely treatment could have saved her life, the Tudor Glen vet staff chose to not administer any treatment. All they did, and planned to do, was continue to run expensive and unnecessary tests. The final slap in the face came yesterday when I received a sympathy card from Tudor Glen with the wrong family name on it. No matter what the circumstances, I can honestly say none of my other dogs will ever set foot in Tudor Glen.

User

I have brought my animals to Tudor Glen Vet for years, I had previously been very pleased with them.

However after bringing my elderly dog in last night to discuss some aging concerns I found the doctor to be a bit pushy and annoyed with answering my questions and very defensive when I voiced my opinion around the cost of a urinalysis. I was charged for an annual health check, however the vet didn't look in my dogs ears, check his eyes, mouth or assess his pain. I was told he needed a urinalysis done and was apprehensive as it was costly and I was pretty sure he didn't have a UTI. After the results came back I was told his issue is just related to age, so to let him outside more frequently.....glad I got charged 205$ to be told that about my 16 year old dog.

I will not return to Tudor glen vet. I found the front end staff to be great, but the vet I dealt with sure left me guessing as to why Tudor Glen vet was voted best vet in St. Albert.

User

I had a bad experience at Tudor Glen. They were my vet for 5 years and I had no complaints but last December they were very rough with our new puppy so I switched vets. I brought him in for his first nail trim at 5 months. He's a Husky so was a fair size and weighed 50 pounds at the time. The tech took him into a room and I could hear him yelping in pain. I went into the room and there were 2 staff pinning him to the ground while a 3rd was twisting his foot trimming his nails. Several of his nails were bleeding and he walked with a limp for a week. He is a very chill dog who knows his commands so there was no need to be so aggressive with him. At his new vet he stands nicely for trims. Also, the staff at Tudor fed him some dog food during the trim to "distract" him. The food they gave him was a mixture of canned/kibble which gave him seious diarrhea as he is fed raw food. Very unprofessional.
