Hike up this little peak that the First Nations call the ‘Sleeping Buffalo’. The trail starts somewhat steeply and then takes you into a series of switchbacks leading to the summit.
We love Tunnel Mountain because even though it is the smallest mountain in Banff, it rewards you with spectacular views of the valley and panoramas over the town of Banff.
The Tunnel Mountain Trail is a short hike that can be easily accessed from our resort. Ask our front desk for directions!

User

We had a great stay at Tunnel mountain. We went for are 5 year anniversary we got apgraded room. Once we got to tye room the had someone bring us a nice bottle of wine and a card from the staff. Best customer service we have had bar non ! Will defiantly be back in the future.

User

The view from our room was breath taking the mountains right there. The staff was friendly and helpful information about the place. I would go back there in a heart beat.

User

Stayed for three nights in March and it was awesome. The husband enjoyed the real fire place in the room and teaching the boys to make a fire! We had deer right off the deck almost everyday and the pool and water slides were a big hit with the whole family! Have recommended this resort to anyone who will listen! Will be back some day for sure!

User

I'm staying here at present and will be for another two days. I absolutely love it, the staff are so helpful and friendly. The room is absolutely so much more than I expected.

There is nothing bad to say about Tunnel Mountain Lodge. You can't complain about the views outside your door, they're just magnificent.

Also little squirrel type chipmunk things running around the lawn area, they're so cute I could take them home with me.

I recommend Tunnel Mountain for accomodation- just a short walk or bus into Banff town if you want the busy life city life type thing.

Thumbs up from me

User

I wish I could have stayed longer..place is extremely clean, staff friendly and called to inquire if all is well with stay and if we needed anything. It was my 1st time Banff and Google map can't located certain places, front desk had maps and gave on point directions. Great place for a family vacation. If i ever return to banff I will definitely stay there again.

User

Had lots of space in our 1 bedroom Loft . Very clean and had everything that you needed . We had 4 people in our party and worked great . We liked the half bath in the loft made it easier to get ready.

User

Finding a place to accommodate a very large family isn't easy. Being able to stay in suite with no one running up and down the hallway or loud people has been a blessing. Being a little ways from town has been great as well, no road traffic. Thank you for a wonderful stay

User

Excellent staff!! I love the room, specially the fireplace. Pet friendly that for me was the most important and they were amazing with my little furry friend.

User

Absolutely breath taking views!! Perfect for those who want to be off the beating path of the city . It's like your in the middle of the woods with all the wildlife around and the smell of fireplaces at night :)...very quiet with only the sound of true , pure nature. I went for a hike early in the morning and saw deer, elk, and a few big buck !!! Gotta stay here ....I know we will be back next year! And the staff did a amazing job to ensure our stay was perfect! Thanks :)

User

Absolutely beautiful accomodation. We loved our stay. Very comfy beds. Full kitchen. Laundry facilities. Walking distance to town as well as a free courtesy bus.

User

We stayed at Tunnel Mountain resort July 17-21, Beautiful rooms and scenery! The resort was very clean and we liked the family atmosphere. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is that the cleaning crew came in daily and took the dirty towels but didn’t replace them, we had to go to the office for replenishments; towels, coffee, toiletries....

User

We got a courtesy upgrade (maybe because we came at the end of a weekend?). Have a cabin with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, wood burning fireplace and living room space on the main, upstairs is a loft with 2 more full beds! Attached is a fully closed balcony with 2 chairs which could be quite enjoyable in dry weather.

The large hot tub was good, warm and the sauna and stem rooms quite nice.

We did not think to bring cards/games and found we can borrow from the front desk, There is also dvds you can borrow and a place to leave books you’ve read in exchange for something new to you.

I’m quite happy with this resort for the price paid.

User

We are almost at the end of a 6-night stay here. Staff are excellent, very helpful and always a smile when you see them. Construction going on down the other end - this place is only going to get better. Great facilities, very very clean, you can pop into the office anytime you need anything. Open fire beautiful, endless wood. Surrounded by scenery. Bus (free) at the front door every 40 minutes, about 4 minutes to town, so no town noise. This is not a 5-star resort.... it is a very well kept 4-star, great price for a long stay, tour companies pick you up from the front door. Deer everywhere nearby. Cleaning staff are polite and thorough. Best time to visit in late April, it's really quiet at all the Banff attractions and great weather. Thanks heaps, Janine and Craig

User

Very relaxing. Nice unit. Great bed. Friendly staff.

Only minus. Our unit had a high smell of cooking greese. I had to wash our jackets and all clothes when we got home.

User

The hotel is in a great location and easy access to everything. However, it is really dated and in need of some TLC. Our room was really dusty and supplies were not always replenished.

The most frustrating part was our keys never worked. Every time we came into our room, we had to get the key reset every time. Very annoying.

User

Stayed at Tunnel Mountain June 8-10. Was given an upgrade at check in and was a little surprised when got to actual accommodations and thought geez I hate to see what we were suppose to get. Although I must say it was very nice and super clean and very quiet it suited us I was just a bit surprised as it was nothing spectacular for an upgrade. Was not impressed with the staff knocking on our door 2 hours before checking out wanting to clean the room then hovering at the door as we were trying to pack the car. Other than that a great stay and would recommend

User

Renovations are recent and nice, but everything inside the unit is covered in reno dust. Also, most of the hotel is under renovation, which isn’t the best stay. The playground is full of nails and screws, so that’s pretty horrible for my kids.

User

I would not recommend this place. At first our door would not open with the key. It jammed several times. The room itself is very dated. The stove is from the 70's and would not work. When a staff member arrived he had trouble getting it working and had no idea how to start it. The dishwasher was not actually attached to the counter the whole thing pulled out when just trying to open it... not forcefully, just pulling on the handle. One of the Tvs is old and the screen has a green line through it. Along with missing 2 remotes. Our blankets did have tears in them but appeared old and dated. The resort has potential... but at the moment I would suggest staying somewhere else.

User

Stayed a the Tunnel mountain resort Sept. 14th and 15th 2016, while out exploring the beauty of Banff the resort allowed a contractor into our cabin to conduct some work replacing the carpet without ever notifying us. As a result of this work being conducted a fire broke out and was a total loss of the building and contents. Myself and both my parents were on a two week vacation that took us from Victoria BC to eventually end in Calgary to then fly back home to the east coast. As a result of this fire that took place half way through our trip we had a total loss of our belonging and were left with nothing 5000kms from home. To this date the resort has done nothing to help us, our own insurance companies replaced our belonging for us after having to pay our deductibles out of our pockets. The resort says they are not responsible for the fire and my emails go unanswered! So we here we are left on our own out a lot of money as they just moved on!
