About Ucalgary Rotaract Club

The University of Calgary Rotaract Club engages university students in humanitarian services and to become leaders in the community

Ucalgary Rotaract Club Description

Rotaract is a club for young adults ages 18-30 that aims to develop stronger communities through service. Members of our club can take part in several opportunities such as hands-on service projects, networking social activities, and professional development.

Rotaract is one of the youth divisions of Rotary International and, as such, each club is sponsored by a nearby Rotary Club; our sponsor club in the Rotary Club of Calgary - based out of Downtown. They have been involved in incredibly diverse projects from running a Calgary Stampede pancake breakfast, to helping establish the Rotary /Mattamy Greenway in Calgary - a walking /cycling ringroad.

With more than 8, 400 clubs in about 170 countries and geographical areas, Rotaract has become a leading organization aiming to help young adults understand the importance of taking action and voicing opinions.

Hey guys it's time to unwind before the worry of finals with a fun fellowship night! As per the highest number of votes, we will be doing a locked room this Friday. The event is on Kensington (address posted) which is only 10 mins from the uni.
If you need a ride, please comment so we can find you one as a few people will be driving.
The time is variable so if most people can't make the time-slot let us know so we can change it if another time works for most people. Please click attend ASAP so I can get a headcount for how many spots I need reserved. Also please arrive 15 mins early so we can get everyone familiarized. Hope to see you there! :)

Join the University of Calgary's Rotaract and WUSC Clubs in their screening of the documentary 19 Days. The evening will commence with an introduction of the film by producer Roda Siad and will finish with a Q&A panel involving Siad and representatives from WUSC. Refreshments will be provided.
This short documentary follows several refugee families during their first 19 days in Canada, as they navigate an unfamiliar terrain that has suddenly become their home. 19 Days reveals the human side of the refugee resettlement process. A unique look at the global migration crisis and one particular stage of asylum, it lays plain the realities faced on the difficult road towards integration.

All of us want to help others and do good in the world. But is what we’re doing effective? Is it sustainable? With a focus on international development, this meeting will facilitate an honest discussion of how our actions, even with the best intentions, can lead to unintended and harmful consequences.

Have you thought of an idea you want to translate to the market? How about a social issue you want to address? Social entrepreneurship utilizes the principles of entrepreneurial thinking to organize, create and manage a venture to make social change. In this discussion we will go over what makes a successful social enterprise, go over successful companies who have also made a change and the steps you need to translate those ideas to address social injustices.
