when laying new track ...leave 18inches on either side of the track so the ground covers will not INVADE the track ..............but grow only to the ballast. We believe Tony was among the first to introduce this easy way of laying track in the garden ..not like so many people were doing 20 years ago .......attaching to boards for the rail bed. BIG SKY had to find a new way to do things because we wanted LOTS of trains running. ..........Now the method is standard! Yea, Tony !

How are your railways doing with all this RAIN ? ? with the rain comes the undergrowth on the tracks ............sorry guys ...........yes there is a little gardening to be done. This train engineer found that a judicious spray or paint brush stroke with a weed killer keeps the track clear . One can never get all the roots by digging...."A little dab will do ya ". A gardening tip ............ I never knew why my red lilies were so miniature but still very colourful and grew well . I thought that they just grew that way . I transferred them into a deeper bed and they a re now growing 24 inches tall! ............ to get miniature ..............plant shallow

Dodging the showers ? Tip.... Be sure to get on those weeds right away Remember to keep the NEW plantings 10 inches back from the track when first planting . That way you have a bit of chance to have "running time" between spurts of plant growth. Very dry for months wasn't it ? ? ? Lily time has arrived

Happy Canada Day ! Tony and I miss your Celebration visits to picnic and have a train ride and get your "train " fix.

we will go back again this season. Our 2 year old grandson was delighted with his visit, as were we, his grandparents. It`s a great, inexpensive day excursion from the south end of Calgary and a great place to bring a picnic. Amazing the work that went into this place.

We had such a wonderful time checking out the garden railway, browsing all the merchandise in the shop, taking a ride on the train, and playing with the train sets! The owners are kind people who go above and beyond just owning the business. I highly recommend visiting this attraction in Nanton!

WOW! Thank you for all the hard work you do to make this a one-of-a-kind hidden gem!!! This was the perfect start to showing my Mom and Mother-in-law the special treasures of Nanton. We felt like we escaped to Europe and really enjoyed all the detail in your amazing outdoor garden railway! A perfect place for train lovers of all ages. There's great play areas for the kids and they can even have a ride on a train. The selection of items in the store is extremely impressive! I highly recommend making this a "must see" on your southern Alberta list. :)

My husband and I took our 4 kids yesterday and we all had a blast! Especially our three year old train fanatic son. The garden displays that have been made to coincide with the out door Garden trains are beautifully designed. The couple who run the store are lovely people! We are planning to come again! Thanks for a fun filled afternoon!

Amazing place to take the kids. My boys had a blast! We spent all afternoon playing with trains, going on train rides and making new friends! Lovely, lovely owners! Well worth the drive if you have any Thomas or train lovers!

Your website still lists you being open from at 10am during the week. We took time off work and drove in from Calgary to bring my 3 year son. He had been excited for days. Please update your website to reflect your closing, so other children are not completely disappointed like my son. This is very misleading.
