I came here for breakfast a few days ago. The service was really good and the food was decent. It was a little bit pricy for what you compared to other similar breakfast places. But overall I would recommend Universe.

Busy place, you should make a reservation.

Many people wait or leave when realizing they will have to. Seats roughly 25 people.

Small, loud atmosphere with awkward entrance. No sign to let you know whether it is self seating or to wait to be seated. No barrier from the cold outdoors when people enter so the heat is blasting inside. Two tables close to the entrance are not practicable.

Wait time for food (we waited 50min) can be an issue if you are on a schedule.

This place was the biggest disappointment. I ordered from skip the dishes and got A LOT of food (for four people). The sandwich I got was inedible. The patty was so burned I could not eat it, so I decided to eat the rest of the sandwich and throw the patty away. The bread was super soggy and honestly just felt like I was eating old toast dipped in water. I couldn’t finish it. The fries had no salt or taste to them. The Caesar salad was one of the most disgusting salads I’ve ever tried. The “caesar” dressing tasted nothing like caesar. It tasted like bland tartar sauce and made me so nauseous. The crepes (banana walnut) were okay, but the bananas tasted like they had been ripe for 6 months. The cheesecake didn’t even taste like cream cheese, it tasted like crumbly cottage cheese. Neither of us could finish our meals and we are not even picky when it comes to food. Not only that, but now we are taking turns (literally) using the toilet. At this point I really want my money back, the whole $120. Please give me refund. I did not pay $120 to get 3 people plus myself sick.

Great pizza and top quality ingredients. The Pepperoni is directly from Montreal and tastes better than anything I've anywhere else in Calgary - great flavour! Universe also makes their own Montreal style bagels! and have the Montreal smoked meat as well!

I tried out Universe Restaurant this week for breakfast with some friends.... all I can say is WOW! The presentation was gorgeous, the portions were big! And the food... it was amazing. Fresh, flavoursome and damn tasty! It's become my new favourite breakfast place, next time I'll be trying the dinner menu! Thank you for great service and amazing food!

Fantastic. Great breakfast great service very friendly. Plenty to eat for price. Wandered past open tables so seated quickly. Plan to come back so selfishly I hope it stays a hidden gem.

Hidden gem of 17th Ave. Awesome hash browns, nice bowl of fruit, good coffee and the best Atlantic Benny I've ever had. OEB, Galaxy, Nellie's got nothing on Universe. Oh, and the nicest staff in the world. 6/5 stars, go eat here.
