I would not recommend this vet to ANY bird owner.

I came here with my bird who had a very overgrown beak and they did not do a proper exam. They simply starred at him through the cage and then told us that overgrown beaks don't normally happen. No! Really?

They also said they would email us about medicine. Two months later, no email. please don't come here if you have a bird and care about them. My bird ended up dead.

This clinic does not genuinely care about your pet's health, but only for monetary gains. They took advantage of people like myself, by pushing the most expensive option to treat my cat which was about 5k for surgery, put him down, or spend 1500 on a procedure that might work but did mention that it was likely unsuccessful. We went with the $1500 option, and the next morning he was back to square one having the same symptoms as before he was taken into emergency. For a company like VCA, who mentioned to put my cat down as an option is outrageous. He is only a year old, and has no health problems other than a blocked urinary system. When I had a question regarding the surgery (if he needed it) right away Dr. Fischer asked, "is the price something to be concerned about?" As a business, you NEVER ask questions like this and second you don't ask me to put my cat down right away as an option, especially when he's so young. Its like they just want to put pets down or want you to go with the most expensive option, and then move on. This is what I mean when I said that they simply don't care about whats best for your pet.

In the end, my cat had to go to another vet for emergency for another blocked urinary track. They did not charge me outrageous fees, and had fantastic reviews. VCA did not go above and beyond at all like this other clinic.

NEVER BRING ANY PET HERE, these people only try to sell you the most expensive options that make them the most money rather than look after the health of your pet. The Vet, Dr. Fisher eagerly tried to sell me an unblock procedure for my cat's urinary tract infection plus 2 days of IV which they said would have cost between $2,500-$3,500 plus another potential $1,600-$2,000 if they have to go into his bladder. Dr. Fisher told me that I should either do this procedure or put him down. There was another option to just unblock him and put him on an IV for a few hours which was still $1,500. She told me there was no medicine that my cat could take to be helped. She told me this option RARELY ever works. After the $1,500 procedure his blood was still dark and today he had troubles peeing again. I went to another Vet today, the price they charge for an unblock is only $500 plus putting him on an IV for 2 days. Calgary North wanted to charge me $2,500-$3,500!!!! Plus another $1,600-$2,000!!! The vet at the other hospital I went to today also said the unblock procedure is quite often very successful. After his unblock today at the new vet, he is confirmed to be unblocked, the urine is much cleaner and is he doing well. The vet at the new clinic also told me that there is medicine that my cat could have taken and he would have been ok temporarily. So Calgary North used power of knowledge to coerce me into paying $1,500 as I was scared for my cat. I will also be filing a claim with the Better Business Bureau.

My first visit was because of an emergency with my senior cat. WOW! I've never had such a positive experience with a vet. Professional, courteous, and prompt, which is exactly what we needed. The vet was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to both ask and answer questions. He was also very gentle with his exam. He was so great to work with that I wouldnt need any other reason to go back - BUT the desk staff were also incredible (very professional and polite) and it didn't cost any more than my usual vet. You can tell they've put a lot of effort into making both the owners and pets comfortable on their visits. I went in thinking our old man wouldn't be coming home, and left with a healthy cat and some recommendations to help him with other health concerns. Can I give 6 / 5 stars??

Knowledgeable and caring staff, great doctors, and clean facilities. Our pups have been going there since day one and the fact that they're available 24/7 has been a great advantage. Doctors are well trained.

My ONLY beef (which should only be minus a half star) is that they push their Science Diet animal food. DO NOT BUY IT! Our pups have been on quality Orijen food and when we switched to this for a while, we had endless medical issues and problems. Further research indicated that Science Diet is ABSOLUTE garbage with ZERO nutrition that will cause unwanted trips to the vet.

Otherwise, I highly recommend any of the Doctors there to look after your furry or feathered or unique friend.

I took my 6 month old kitten here after getting home from work and seeing that his eye was very red, cloudy and goopy. After the exam and test the vet did, she spoke to me about what was wrong with him. Though she used a lot of medical terms and was not helpful at all in helping us understand what was actually wrong with him. The vet kept referring to my male kitten as "her" and "she" even though I used the male pronouns when discussing with her. She then prescribed 2 types of drops and probiotics to put on his food and gave him a cone. When I got to the front I explained to the receptionist that my money was limited and gave her the number in which I could only spend. The vet then came out and told me that if I had limited money that I should have said so right away. I was made to feel extremely guilty for not being able to afford everything prescribed, though I spent every last bit of overdraft money I had and no money In any other account. In the end I left with only one set of drops, and the cone. They did give me the cone for free after trying to make me pay for it. The only reason they allowed it was because I asked for them to take it off of my kitten and the charge off the bill. If they took it off they would not be able to use it since it had already been "infected".
They also tried to take advantage of my distress my recomending blood work that night for an additional $370.
Overall this place is a complete money grab. They take advantage of vulnerability to make you spend lots of money. And don't care at all about your pet! They will prescribe a bunch for the health of your pet and not even know the gender.

Biggest cash grab vet clinic we have been to in Canada.

Whether the issue is small or big, they always try and get you to have costly procedures done, even after they have identified the issue, but as a "safe measure for age" or "just in case". It often ends up being at least $600 for blood work + consultation. Not unusual for them to prescribe anti-biotics for every issue, while taking advantage of you in vulnerable state of being in distress. If there are no issues, expect them to push certain food and vitamins that they carry in the clinic.

Stay away, go to another vet that is less focused on cash grab, but genuinely focused on the well being of the pet and honest pricing.

My cat was very sick when I brought her in. The staff reacted with urgency and quickly determined she was about to start stroking due to a failing heart. So we decided to put her down before she'd suffer. We were treated with much care and compassion. Me and my precious cat went to the right place. Thanks so much Calgary North.

I was advised by my Vet to go here to get an ultrasound. This was the fastest way to find out why my fur baby was having seizures. I drove from Airdrie as my son held our dog. He was having seizures every 5 minutes. They immediately took my dog and when I tried to tell them that my Vet referred us, he will be forwarding paperwork and documents the receptionist gave me a clipboard and told me to fill it out. We waited for 2 hours before we saw someone. By than it was 8pm. The ER Vet said my dog had a blood in the brain, without blood work! Gave me a run done of what needed to be done and showed me a bill of $3800. I tried to explain why we were their. Asked about my Vet documents and they came me and excuse on still waiting on them. When I explain my financial situation and I had no pet insurance. I should of said I was on welfare and homeless. They made me wait another 6 hours. The only thing they did was gave my baby an IV. They never treated him for his seizures and advised me to get the ultrasound technologist in will be an additional $300 even though we had come before his shift 6 hours ago! They kept referring to my dog as her feline when HE is clearly a male canine When I got him back he was left in his own mess. For 7 hours they allowed his seizures to go on without treatment. Do not go here they care more about $$$$ than the animals and the owners. Inhuman especially for pets worst for a hospital

Brought my cat in for a checkup as he had bloody stools with mucus. They gave me a liquid antibiotic and a powder probiotic. I asked, before I left if I could have a pill form of the liquid antibiotic and they said they didn't have a pill form. I gave my cat his first dose and he willingly ate it, until the flavor set it. He ran around the house trying to cough it up and he glared at me with demon eyes and didn't trust me when I tried to give him his favorite temptation treat after. The next morning when I tried to give him another dose, he turned into a feral, possessed thing that I have never seen before. I called these guys again just to ask someone else if there was a pill form and they said "yes we do, it will be $15". So I was lied to and they sold me the liquid and pretended to not have the pill because the liquid is $30 and the pill is $15.

Thanks for nothing guys. I wont be returning to your clinic.

Awesome! We have 4 pets and have seen many vets in our days, this was easily our best experience. Dr. Singh and the staff were so real and genuine, making us feel like we were in great care. Realistic prices and open 24 hours a day with the same fees for anytime of the day.

Dr Foster is awesome!!! Called one day ahead and they were able to get us in. Staff are all very friendly, and you can tell they are all animal lovers. Dr Foster addressed all of my concerns and provided a variety of solutions for my golden doodles issues, and some of them were even over the counter remedies that weren't going to cost us a fortune! We will definitely be coming back, and recommending this vet to everyone!

I would give 6 stars if I could. I brought in a bearded dragon that I rescued from someone that didn't know how to take care of her I had her only 4 days the 4th day her health decreased extremely bad and she couldn't even hold her head up anymore I rushed her into the vet after making a call to make sure someone was there that could help me. as soon as I got there I was rushed into the back room and within seconds I had the reptile specialist there with me looking over Charm . she was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful and she treated me like I was a friend and not just a customer , the vet on call came in as well and she as well was very nice and helped me decide what was best for this poor bearded dragon . we had to put her down after only having her 4 days due to lack of proper food and lighting for her whole life , she was 4years old and the girl that owned her before didn't care for her. the vet and specialist both comforted myself and my 2 kids while we had to make this hard decision . never once were we treated less then a friend . a few days later I got a card in the mail from those 2 girls and it brought tears to my eyes from all the heartfelt and meaningful words. I highly recommend this vet office, they are amazing ....

Taking your pet to the emergency vet is one of the scariest things. Thankfully everyone at Calgary North made our experience as pleasant as could be managed. They were calm, reassuring and it's evident they genuinely care about the well being of each and every animal in their care. I really appreciated Dr. Shutt's straight forward approach. She provided us with a lot of options and was very open about pricing all the way through. We are so grateful that we took our kitty Dexter here for emergency care and we're beyond thankful for all the ladies working here that ensured he got the best care possible. Calgary North is definitely going to be our go to for all our veterinary needs now.
