What is Digital Storytelling?

Digital storytelling is a process used to tell personal stories in powerful, evocative ways. Following the model developed at the Center for Digital Storytelling in Berkeley CA, each workshop begins with a story circle where each participant shares their story idea. The participant then writes and records their script, and selects media such as images, sounds, and music to create a 3 to 4 minute video. No special computer or video skills are required; the process is facilitated by trained consultants. The creation and sharing of these stories, whether public or private, empowers positive change for people, communities, and organizations.
