About West Calgary Psychology: Psychotherapy, Health And Consulting Services
I operate an inclusive therapy practice where clients can feel safe exploring the many difficulties that life and relationships can send our way. The only constant in life is change. I believe we can have a say in where it takes us.
West Calgary Psychology: Psychotherapy, Health And Consulting Services Description
My name is Dr. Amber Hills. I am a Registered Clinical Psychologist, and the Director of West Calgary Psychology. I have been formally trained at the doctoral level in individual, couple /family and group treatment modalities across all age groups, using empirically-supported approaches to treatment. My therapeutic approach incorporates aspects of cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), existential, family /systems, humanistic, and psychodynamic theories and practice. That being said, I see each client as unique and thus I tailor my approach to meet the needs and worldviews of each client.
For over a decade, I have worked extensively with clients with mood and anxiety disorders, interpersonal /relationship issues, difficulties related to personality style, and those experiencing difficulty with life transitions. I have specialized over the past several years in the health psychology domain, with an increasing focus on adjustment and rehabilitation following neurological /physical injury (e. g. , Stroke, TBI, mTBI /Post-concussion Syndrome), psychosocial oncology, and chronic illness.
I am a member in good standing of the Canadian Psychological Association and the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta, and I am registered as a Clinical Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists.
Reviews
Sometimes letting go is the most beautiful and loving thing we can do.
I believe we absolutely should keep asking our bodies what they need to be healthy. But we need to try to stop being ashamed of them for needing it. Love the one you’re with!
Where do you find your meaning?
Sometimes it just requires a positive reframe!
The positives of the flip side.
Hello, Monday. ☕️

We cannot have one without the other.
Yes, yes it is. The complexity of relationship eludes us all at times.
Wonderful words from a great friend and colleague, Dr. Jody Carrington. ❤️
For my writer readers: “Write only for them...” Yes!
Well perhaps things just grow more slowly...
Sometimes relationships require a leap of faith.
Sometimes it’s best to consider a bit of both.
Many endings mark a new beginning.
Take nothing for granted!
Real friends. Good therapy. Honesty with ourselves.
One foot in front of the other always gets us there eventually.
This applies to running. This applies to living. We can’t be reminded too often to be present, and in the present.
