West Side Multi-Sport Club

Facebook is sending me notifications saying a bunch of new people have viewed the page in the past couple of weeks. Maybe it’s aunts and uncles, cousins and grandparents or maybe it’s people trying to figure out what we’re all about. Either way, I thought I would pop on here and produce content for the members of our club and whoever else wants to read.
I was out on the boat with my dad and my two lads on Ministikwan Lake in Saskatchewan on Saturday. Lines were in the wa...ter and we were trolling along the SE corner of the lake when Logan felt a tug on the rod. He asked me if he had weeds or a fish and a quick glance at the dancing tip of his rod let me know he had a fish so I told him to bring the tip of the rod back and start reelin’ him in while I grabbed Grady’s line and reeled him in quick. The moment the Jack hit the cooler, Logan looked at his brother and said, “One nothin' Grady".
Back into the water the lines go.
Grady feels the snag next and the cooler now had two fish. Grady feels the third snag, puts another in the cooler and looks at his brother and lets him know if he wants to take lessons on how to fish, he's happy to teach him. Logan looked at him and said if he wanted lessons on how to catch small fish, he’d ask him.
I love it. I love the competition.
Before I had kids I coached a lot of hockey which predisposed my position in what I hoped for with respect to my kids. My first wish is that they were healthy, my second wish was that they found something they were passionate about and my third hope was they have an appreciation for country music. If a person has their health, they’ll always find a way. If they’re passionate about something, they'll learn sacrifice, perseverance, dedication, and commitment, which will allow them to compete to be successful in life and unless we all put our hands up and agree to convert from capitalism to communism, knowing how to compete is important.
And if they like country music, my voice won’t be the only one the steering wheel hears as we roll down the road on the way to the rink to punish the sorry bastards in the other dressing room.
