For those of us who are comfortable in the water, we may take for granted the fun and pleasure we get from swimming, but for others (children and adults) it can be terrifying. Join us for an informative and interactive session about water safety, swimming lessons and the ISR (Infant Swimming Resource) self rescue program that is available in Calgary.

Melinda Gilroy is a water lover and has spent most of her life around the water. From swimming from an early age to sailing and scuba diving she has made a career around being in and around the water (even in landlocked Calgary!) She has taught sailing around Canada, worked on tall ships on the west coast, taught traditional swimming lessons as well and is a lifeguard and has taught scuba diving in Canada and the Caribbean. With two small children under four, she knew that she wanted to share her love of the water with her family and being safe around the water is so important. Because ISR Self Rescue Lessons were unavailable in Canada at the time, she spent almost 3 months at the end of her second maternity leave learning how to train babies and children how to save themselves should they ever find their way to the water unsupervised.

Originally from Italy, he worked in the beautiful winelands of Mendoza Argentina where he met his wife. Fluent in Spanish, Italian and English, Andrew has been a tour guide in Brazil,... Tibet, Morocco and Jordan and has travelled to almost 50 countries, covering every continent.
Join us for an evening of storytelling as Andrew walks us through the intimate experiences you can expect when travelling Ecuador, Chile, Peru and his second home, Argentina.
