About Wetaskiwin Parent Link Families Network

A support and information page for Wetaskiwin & Area families.

Wetaskiwin Parent Link Families Network Description

Come and be amazed at the beautiful space we have created for Wetaskiwin families down on 49th Street. We have recently expanded, adding a new, spacious play room to our already lovely Centre. We have plenty of parking and hopefully a sidewalk coming in 2017!

Our space allows us to offer a variety of programs for young families and caregivers of children under 6. You will find play opportunities, ways to learn and practice skills through play and a chance to meet other families.

Professional staff can connect you with other community resources, help you find out about your child's development and support you in your most important job: parenting the next generation.

We are your ally, your cheering squad. We love your children and think you are doing amazing work. You are your child's favourite toy and most important teacher. Let us support you, feel welcome at our Centre, make friends, have fun and watch your children play, learn and grow.

We provide quality programs free of charge, because we believe in strengthening ALL families and growing a supportive and inclusive community. Everyone is welcome. Join us; we'd love to meet you!

Cherish those moments when you feel deeply connected to your children, those moments that make your heart overflow. They will carry you through the sleepless nights, the temper tantrums and the “button-pushing” moments of parenthood. They will remind you why it’s all worth it!

CHANGE OF DATE AND TIME! We are very sorry, but due to a scheduling conflict at our partner facility, we are moving this program into November. We hope that this will still work for all of you who registered and maybe even work better for those of you who would have liked to register, but couldn't make the dates/times work.

This is also a reality of motherhood. With all the joy and excitement, also comes all the exhaustion and anxiety. Joining a moms group can help you celebrate the good stuff and find support for the difficult days. So check out our Baby & You group tomorrow 10:30 am - 12 pm noon.

The more families we see tomorrow morning, the bigger the parachute can be... help Tanya get out the giant one for some fun play during Imagine That! Starts at 10am. Drop in and join us!

This is the calendar/schedule for October at Parent Link. Note, that we changed Musical Mornings into a drop-in program from 9:30 - 11 am and that we are rescheduling "You are my Sunshine" into November due to a scheduling conflict in our partner facility. Any questions or comments, don't hesitate to connect with us!

This September has not worked out as we had hoped. We are cancelling our last Walk & Talk this afternoon due to the sad weather. If you had really hoped to get out of the house after lunch, feel free to come by the Centre instead for a little play in the play room. Julia will be here and the doors will be open 🙂

Koala story and craft with Krystianna tomorrow morning. Join her at 9:30 am for the last GO WILD! Next week we will be starting Musical Mornings in the same time slot. Will be lots of fun as well!

This program starts next week. Children get to follow Heather, the hedgehog who lost her mom and Owen, the owl whose parents recently divorced. Through Owen and Heather's eyes, they get to explore their feelings and talk about what's worrying them. They get to learn about resilience, celebrate their unique qualities and abilities and work towards a positive outlook on the future. Parents cover the same topics as their children, which allows them to continue the conversation at home and support their child(ren) through this time of transition. So whether you lost a family member, experienced a separation or another loss that signifies a major transition for your family (a major move, losing a house in a fire, illness or accident that impairs a family member etc.) - contact the Wetaskiwin Community Learning Program to register ASAP.

Want to encourage caring, kindness and generosity in your children? Volunteering as a family is a fantastic way to model giving time to your community. Plus, it is a wonderful experience for families. And in this case it can also serve as a teaching moment for biology, ecology, sustainability and environmental issues... Win/Win/Win... These guys are desperately looking for volunteers. Friday in Ermineskin, Saturday right here in town... for more info and to sign up (everyone gets a T-Shirt to keep) follow this link:

Julia is hosting a drop-in play tonight 6-7:30 pm. Since Niki is away, we will just have some fun crafting and enjoying free play in the play room. Look at this fun project... Makes for a perfect greeting to send to family for Thanksgiving. Join us!

Niki is away for training tomorrow night, so Julia is filling in. Mindful Mondays might therefore look different tomorrow, but we’ll make sure the doors are open and there’s something fun to do. 6-7:30pm.

Interesting take on the concept of “sharing” that makes us look at our role in facilitating learning for our children and urges us to slow down and give our children more opportunities to problem-solve.

For our Musical Mornings in October, we could use toilet paper rolls, paper towel tubes and empty Kleenex boxes. If you have any, we’ll gladly take them off your hands next week.

The center and staff are well suited to supporting new and growing families. A good variety of well planned activities, times and dates. The new facility is beautiful and continuing to be developed.

Parent Link saved us when we were new to town. We found friends, fun, food, comfort and amazing help for our questions about parenting. The programs there are really fun and educational and the staff is warm, kind and helpful. The facility and clean, happy and well stocked. As a new mom I was so happy to have a place that felt comfortable to be for me and my children and the fact that the programs are free was a major bonus. Thank you Julia and everyone at Parent Link, the Whenhams love you all:)
