As B.C. has declared a state of emergency for nearly 600 wildfires, I can't help but remember and thank all those Wildland Firefighters, bomber and helicopter pilots, and heavy equipment operators out there for all they do. This was me 20 years ago and one of the most formative experiences of my life. Watching fires start from lightening right in front of our helicopter, don't sweeps to put out hot spots. Wildfires are chaotic and scary but bring great change and renewal of the landscape.
