I spent all day today at the First Responder Suicide Awareness conference.
A traumatic event that happened to me back in April lead to a twist in the direction of WEMA, which is currently focused on supporting first responders with their mental health. This is something very new to us but as it turns out - not completely unexpected.
My dad was a cop. I lost him to a mental illness 18 years ago. No, he didn’t die by suicide or otherwise, but he is lost to me because of the a...busive manner he treats people and many harmful consequences of that...
There are so many parts of my story that I will have to share with people now that I have truly reconnected with my WHY for doing what I do in mental health. I had no idea why I got the vision for starting a workplace mental health organization almost 2 years ago, and now I’m absolutely sure that was the right decision.
Having spent a full day today at this conference made me feel so connected and excited about this new direction!
With the baby steps, the shift is definitely coming! #frsac2018 #legacyplace #mentalhealth

How do you feel about your work?
At WEMA, we care about what's REALLY going on and we listen to understand.
We are building an online tool to help people self-evaluate their workplace well-being and find the ways to feel better at work and about work that will be best fit for their needs.
... Please take a few moments to answer the 2 questions of our anonymous survey and share with your friends and/or colleagues: goo.gl/eEtDk8
Your input is valuable and will serve as the foundation for our tool. Thank you so much for your support! #work #research

What's your relationship with rules? Ever since I was a toddler, I hated rules... I always had that drive to do something my own way and break those 'limitations' I was finding so illogical and constraining.
That battle lasted until I realized that to get more done I need to think less and make fewer decisions about minor things. When do I meet with people? When do I go to the gym? When do I cook meals for the week? I used to fit those things into my schedule that was consta...ntly busy, whenever I had time. And that was really stressful!
This article is very helpful to those of you who feel like they do too much but seem to get nothing done. How can you be more productive and feel good rather than anxious about all of the things going on in your life? Read on... #productivity #stress #anxiety #rules https://medium.com/…/five-unproductive- habits-ive-quit-so-i…

Do you expect your day job to pay your bills, give you a sense of purpose and help you grow and develop your skills? That is a great career goal to have but sometimes quite a long-term one.
I've come to the realization that placing such high expectations on a job often leads to disappointment and burnout as a result of trying and failing to get them met.
A recent PayPal study makes me believe that I'm not the only one. Did you know that women make up 66% of Canadian 5-to-9'...ers - the employed people pursuing their passions by owning a small business that they run outside of their 9-to-5 jobs?
Doing something that you really love outside of your working hours is a great way to compensate for the lack of that sense of purpose in your day job! #NerdyThursday #5to9ers #sidehustle #passion #purpose
