Have you ever dreamed of visiting Canada’s beautiful Rocky Mountains? How about making friends from around the world? Do you have the travel bug? How about experiencing an unforgettable summer of fun and adventure?
Wynchemna Language and Learning Centre offers students the summer experience of a lifetime!
In 1995, Wynchemna ran its first summer program. 25 students from Germany came to Canada to experience Wynchemna's first-ever summer camp. Since then, hundreds of students, ages 9-23, have traveled from across Canada and from around the world to participate in Wynchemna summer camps, in both Calgary and Vancouver.
Wynchemna Language and Learning Centre welcomes Canadian and international students to partake in 3-4 week English and French camps.
Every day ay Wynchemna offers up a new kind of adventure! Calgary students have the opportunity to attend summer festivals such as the world famous Calgary Stampede, the world’s largest outdoor festival, to visit badlands and the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology in Drumheller, to go swimming and shopping at West Edmonton Mall (the largest shopping mall in North America), to canoe and kayak on the Glenmore Reservoir, and more! Vancouver students spend 3-4 weeks on Canada’s beautiful west coast. Students enjoy a wide arrange of exciting activities such a white water river rafting, caving, zip lining, sailing, whale watching, camping, cycling, sightseeing, and even a downtown scavenger hunt.
Students in both Calgary and Vancouver camps attend morning lessons in either French or English with a certified English or French language teacher. Class sizes are small, averaging 1 teacher per 6 students. Afternoons and evenings are spent enjoying a wide range of recreational activities such as canoeing and, kayaking, rock climbing, ice skating, roller skating, learning to cook international cuisines, and more! Students also spend a week camping in the Rocky Mountain National Parks, where they have the chance to hike up a mountain, to swim in a natural hot spring, to walk on a glacier, to go horseback riding, to gaze at the Northern Lights, and of course to photograph an occasional bear!
2010 marks Wynchemna's 15th Anniversary. In celebration, Wynchemna is introducing an exciting new five week camp. Students travel through Canada’s Rocky Mountain National Parks, starting in Calgary and winding up in Vancouver.
