I've found it, the best coffee in Wheatland County. You may not believe this is news, but it is. I've been living in Strathmore for nearly six months, and regularly had to travel into Calgary for a latte, but that drive no longer stands between me and great coffee. Sorry Tim Hortons, I've been a faithful customer for a long time, and while the coffee is a Canadian staple, and, I like every other Canadian, eagerly await the Roll-Up-To-Win contest every spring, but I'm an espresso lover. (I'm also sceptical about the one in six odds; I'm at 112 cups and still nothing. ) Your Cup, Coffee Shop in Rockyford will be seeing a lot more of me. I made my way out to Rockyford this past weekend to take in the musical talents of residents throughout the county at the Musical Evening in Rockyford. With a packed weekend schedule, I was loosing steam. Driving down the main street in Rockyford, I'm not going to lie, choices were slim pickings. "That looks like a coffee shop, " I thought. "I'll go and check it out. " Thank goodness I did. Not only is the coffee worth the 30 minute drive, the owner is the quintessential adorable country shop owner. "I'd love a coffee, " I said a bit sceptical. "I'm very tired. " "What type of coffee would you like?" the owner asked. I was shocked I had a choice. "I would love a latte, please, if that's ok, " I said. "Well I've been told I make the best lattes, " she said. Sure, I thought, everybody says that. So I paid my bill and left to find a seat at the United Church. I took a sip, while unlocking my car, and actually stood on the main street staring at my cup of coffee. I even found myself looking around to find someone to tell them how good it was. Bold, rich, and smooth. "I had a barista come in from the city to show me how to use the machine properly, " the owner explained. Well, it shows. "I think, if you're going to pay that much for a cup of coffee, it should be the best it can be, " my coffee saviour explained. For all those coffee lovers, and Strathmore residents missing the atmosphere of a coffee shop, get in the car, drive to Rockyford and you'll see what I'm talking about. Enjoy.
