“We’ve made a moose-take!” This week, a pair of moose showed up at YYC. They’ve been enjoying hanging out on airport property, and our operations and environment teams have been closely monitoring their movements. If you come across this wild pair, make sure you leave plenty of space for safety reasons (both for yourself and the moose). Visited quite a few airports but wanted to say that the Calgary airport is the best. The white hatters were very friendly, there was help waiting everywhere, a passenger got my luggage off the carousel and put it in a cart for me, Chrissy loaded my luggage into the waiting car when it wasn't even her job. So a big thumbs up to the Calgary airport for the great experience I had!

please stop participating in the live horse export business by flying shipments of draft horses to their deaths in Japan. These are semi feral horses unused to travel who must be terrified by the loud noises of being on an airport tarmac. In addition, they are starving and dehydrated thanks to outdated Canadian laws that allow them to be transported for up to 36 hours without food and water. Furthermore, federal regulations regarding head clearance and segregation of horses over 14 hands are routinely broken. Please do the right thing and stop allowing the horse exporters and Atlas and Korean Air Cargo to do this at YYC.

User

Shipping regulations of horses to Japan are crystal clear

1. Enough head room for horses in the crates

2. Horses over 14 hands must be segregated

Both rules are violated on a regular basis at YYC.

Our governing body, CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) endorses these violations, along with allowing the horses to be without food or water for 36 hours.

Should Calgary airport, where these horses are shipped, routinely endorse these violations? Why should we care so little about the inhumane treatment of these horses, by pandering to the demands for horse meat by Korea and Japan? Please stop allowing the horse exporters and Atlas and Korean Air Cargo to use YYC for such barbaric practice.

User

I guess if you are bringing alcohol from Mexico you need to make sure it’s in a bag sealed, not a bag when they use ti-rap because they will keep it they kept my bte and I had the receipt and the bag was close , I didn’t want to fight them because I was almost missing my flight they made us running from one side to the other , took way to long at the border , damn Calgary airport !

The new YYC airport is truly terrible, and the worst part is the damage is done and it won’t change for another 30 years.

My check in was the opposite end of the airport from my gate. I’m in C7 and I literally can’t figure out which gate is mine. The area is too busy, too enclosed (claustrophobic), with not enough stores. Not to mention the shuttles are useless, too many people, not enough room for bags, and I definitely don’t need fun facts about the airport while driving!

I genuinely miss the old airport, but I realize reviewing isn’t going to change anything 😔

User

Sorry to say but I don't feel safe at your airport anymore and won't be traveling through here anymore. It is very disappointing when we get our duty free from mexico taken away from us, and with your new system here and not allowing us to get to our checked bags and put it in them is ridiculous. The worst part of all of this was when they let the lady ahead of us allow her to take on her contact solution that was over the limit! What is going on in this airport? I hope I get a response back and some kind of resolution that could be made.

User

So Calgary has this new setup for people that have to go through customs to catch a connecting flight. So now you can't pick up your checked bag after going through customs to put any dutyfree stuff that is over 100ml in. Now I have to got through security again only for them to say "sorry this is over the limit, you can't take this with you". I was very displeased because I had asked 3 separate employees if the dutyfree stuff over 100ml would be okay and they said "yes". The only solutions I was given was to pay extra and check an extra bag or they would track down my checked luggage to put it in. Bad news, I wasn't guaranteed that I would make my connecting flight home if I chose to locate checked bag... To top it off security let the lady infront of me keep her contact solution that was a 120ml bottle and open!!! All of my duty free stuff was sealed and less than 120ml, how fair is that? If I knew Calgary had this new system I would have skipped the duty free store and saved the headache....

I was travelling alone with three children including a baby and had a broken toe. We had a request for wheelchair assistance. Once at the airport check in we were told that there is no such a thing and we can only pay and hire a porter. What a shame that in this day and age a disabled person and a mother with a baby can not get simple help without paying the money hungry companies.

User

I was just going through security on the USA side and the top of my ticket for united airlines says “premier access” the security guy at the entry tells me it’s not priority when my bags were just listed priority and united airlines lists premier access as priority!! The guy at the security proceeds to yell at me in a condescending way in front of crowd of people yelling saying it’s not priority!!! Your staff should be able to distinguish tickets & also not be so rude and embarrassing. The other person at security at the end of the line, checks my ticket and says yes that is priority. Still can’t believe the guy at the entry can’t distinguish that and continued to throw a fit when I tried to tell him it was!

User

I travel alloround the world and I have the vorst experience in my life,Had a flight from Frankfurt to Vancouver and connection flight in Calgary, frst contact with Canada, and "welcome" passport control police, werry bad experience, very unesiseser questions, like whay did I travel in Dubai, redicules! The security officer took my phone and check my emails !? Hello!?I? And then they lost my baggage on security border control, after ewriting I miss my flight for Vancouver,no sorry,no apologies, noting, big shame and I'd never fly to this airport again, what a disappointing experience for frst contact with Canada!

User

I think whoever designed this airport should have to carry a bag and a laptop bag from the westjet site to customs twice a day for 5 days a week so they can see how poor of a setup it is. I did that tonight with a c pap case a computer bag and a carry on. I have never seen an airport that I had to walk like you do here. Came from houston where i took the shuttle whickbis like a c train from termonal e to terminal a. That is the way it should be.

User

I have travelled a lot, all over the world and while I understand that when you are changing official procedures it can be complicated, the lack of staff knowledge and follow through on the new system for clearing checked bags through customs caused our bags to not be transferred to our connecting flight. Additionally, they require things that I have not encountered anywhere else in the world without informing you of what those documents are, simply expecting that you will know. Poor experience overall.

User

I have traveled a lot and never experienced such poor treatment in an airport. I highly suggest avoiding YYC at all costs. The border patrol officers are different at this airport than any I have experienced. They are arrogant, rude and degrading. I understand the security process, and power trips and harassment are usually not part of the equation. The airport does have some control over how their customers are treated by the border patrol agents. The customer service of the airport staff is also poor. I will not be returning and I will be sharing the details of my experience with anyone I know who is considering flying into Calgary.

User

I have recently found out that Calgary Airport supports the live shipment of horses to Japan for slaughter. An airport has the power to choose who they do business with and this practice shows their lack of ethics. I wonder if Calgary would still be doing live shipments if the cargo was all of Canada's excess dogs and cats?? Please YYC, stop supporting live export...of ANY animals!

User

I don't ask for much from anyone but I am asking your company to please stop participating in such cruelty. These horses are being abused, they are scared and sadly on their way to a much worse fate...why do you want to be associated with this??? Its shameful behavior and i' m embarrassed for your company. Please stop and set a good example for others companies.

User

I am a long time resident of Calgary who flies out of YYC on a monthly basis and and in the 25 years I have been doing this I have never had to deal with the harassment and intimidation I faced this evening. Between the incompetent red coats in Cell Area Pick up number 1 who would not move the driver sitting there for over 15 minutes, which created a huge traffic jam for the other people trying to be picked up including myself, and the white haired drill sergeant in Cell Area Pick Up number 2 where I had to run to get my cab, and who used every intimidation and harassment technique he could muster to make himself feel important, I can no long say I am proud of this airport. The obvious preferential treatment to certain drivers, the horrific and disrespectful cab company being allowed to pick up visitors to our city and the red coat regime who cannot get the rules straight between them, but who certainly think they have the power to bully and intimidate those they dislike such as my my non white cab driver and a female who will NOT tolerate this disrespect, I am at a loss over whether I want to ever fly out of this location again. I am beyond angry knowing I have no choice for now. I think I would rather sell my house and move to Edmonton. Disgraceful.

User

Disgusting that you have live shipments of beautiful innocent draft horses being shipped to Japan via Korean Air & or Atlas Air without food, water or rest and crammed in with incompatible horses in wooden crates that do not meet the world standards nor CFIA regulations. How dare you u load from transport trucks innocent beings by prods and verbal commands which they are unfamiliar with and nowhere to escape.

..how dare you make 2 - 4 horses cram into wood crates & be subjected to noise of jet turbines, inhaling jet fuel & in winter being sprayed with De- icer fluid......then loaded with burning eyes, ears and skin !!! How dare you allow this happening at the same barn where Spruce Meadows show horses come and go In the best of comfort!!! How dare you call yourself a pet resort having dogs and other animals await boarding flights. This is absolutely shameful making money off of innocent beings awaiting their long arduous flight 10 hrs plus to death !! How dare you !!!
